But these are not high quality, I have metal links from Dragon and Realistic which go together much easier so it's only the Dr Figures ones that are a PITA.

They're the second ones listed under item no. DRL4-X151 in the "1/6th SCALE MACHINE GUN AMMUNITION/ACCESSORIES" section in that link.
You'll only get 15 rnds so not a practical way of creating belts for your RNR, best to just get the cheapy Dr. Figure ones.

Yup.
I intend to use turtles. Gonna use a leather belt from Zartan...and make RnR some ARAH accurate turtle bullet belts. Maybe some towel ammunition as well. To feed the gun with....gonna be effin SICK!!!

The best thing, for me, about this Joe line is the endless bashing opportunities damn near each and every figure offer. Its kept this line fresh and fun.

It's not that there's anything wrong with it, it's just that this is my first Joe figure, and I kinda wanted to go all out. I haven't had a fun project to work on in a while. I'm looking at some fabric boots to switch out, as I have a strong dislike for molded boots. I'm looking at the Crazy Dummy Seal Team 3 Gunner boots, I have no idea if they're 'accurate' or not, but they look like reasonably close to what RnR wears.

I was looking at swapping out the machine gun, but it seems the stock on RnR's is unique, and I would have a hell of a time painting his 'grafitti' on the swapped out version.

I switched the boots on mine to Desert Danners from Soldier Story, these here:

The color is a pretty close match to the crappy molded ones though I feel the foot portion of the boot is a little large, but for $10 they're a pretty good deal.
You'll just need a pair of Hot Toys feet for RnR to wear them.

agree with that totally. you can get a lot of different looks with tweaks and gear change-ups.

Yes they will, but you might need to wrap a little tape on the end to get a tighter fit (I used Scotch blue painters tape).
To get the pegs out of the Sideshow boots, you'll have to place them in very hot water. I placed mine in a pot with hot tap water turned the heat on and just before boiling, pulled them out, they'll be so much easier to remove then if you tried it with just hot tap or a blowdryer.

Yeah, I've hit them with a blowdryer and pushed them into shape this morning, looking better especially with the pant cuffs untucked.

I finished the bullet belts this weekend and thought I'll post a pic of what they look like on RnR:

Those are Dr. Figures metal 7.62 belts wrapped around him and hanging from his ammo box, the one in the 60 is from Dragon since Dr. Figures are far too oversized to fit. I found that 60 rounds is enough to wrap around him, maybe 55 rounds would be the minimum. You get 50 rnds per bag, but I found that some links were junk (two links out of 3 bags worth) and you get maybe two to three extra bullets per bag and maybe one extra link.

The second pic are of the three bears. RnR has on Soldier Story boots which are a little big looking. Flint has Hot Toys boots which are too small, and Beachhead has DiD boots which are just right.

All RnR needs now is a better sling for the 60 and I'm finished with him.

I ended up buying two different pairs of boots from Monkey Depot, I'll figure out which ones I like better when they arrive.

I actually ended up with exactly the right amount of links and bullets in the first bag I got, unless some fell into the carpet around here somewhere. . . Second bag should be here any day now. It looks like the $10 versions on eBay dried up and they're only offering the $18 BINs. They probably noticed they were getting a run on them and upped the price. I will just have to wait 'em out.

I spent the weekend gearing him up and and putting everything together. Never had any sort of military figure before. . . too many straps!!!
