The camo pattern is wrong and to me that is the defining trait of the 1988 figure. This is Devils Due Storm Shadow.

Major Bludd? A odd looking rocket gun and robot arm instead of a armor covered arm, but the figure is pretty much 1983 Bludd.

BTW, how many SS Joe figures do you have. Maybe 3?

His sword blades will be made of metal this time right? If so it makes the switch out sword hilt a possibility. It also makes the exclusive pretty cool if it has it's own metal blade.

Khev, you are usually a pretty big advocate for card art accuracy, so I'm surprised to see you defending this one. It's all in the eye of the beholder of course, but I'm with Evilface on this on. The camo pattern, and "modernizing" alterations (including the mask) all detract from what made the original distinctive to me. I do think it's a pretty cool looking figure, but this is the kind of thing I thought you were usually getting down on SSC about.

I'm not buying it. I'm not buying the Hot Toys one either, despite the fact that he's called "Storm Shadow." Neither of these evokes any feeling of nostalgia for me.

Preordered the exclusive--I know people are complaining about how it's not exactly the version they want but come on...it's still a great figure. Though what product thread on this site DOESN'T have half the people *****ing about it. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Don't like the exclusive? Get the regular one. Want your own "perfect" version? Build it.

Personally, I'm excited to get another ninja with cool accessories.

He looks like the new comic book Storm Shadow. The new comics have been the focus of this line from the beginning. If you can't get behind that, it's time to move on (Customs, classic 1:18 or quit). Just the way it's been since 2009.

Reveal pics look good.
Pros: Bigger Storm Shadow body, matches new Snake Eyes in scale.
Does look like the new comic version as is.
Can pop on version ones shirt, pants & gear for a beefed up version one Storm Shadow since the mask is all white.

Cons:
Disproportionate to previous Storm Shadow release.
Will probably make the other ninjas look pretty puny.
No 90 degree camo.
Grey arm bands.
Price. At $180, it should be the ultimate version. You should never need another Storm Shadow. Like the last Snake Eyes, they included two heads so you could do either version.

Not really. The line has been all over the place, from Devil's Due type looks (Cobra Commander, the first Snake Eyes), to pretty accurate original toy/cartoon/comic looks (Storm Shadow, Flint, Duke, Viper, Dusty, CG, Cobra Trooper, Baroness, etc.), to their own interpretations of what a "modern" version of these characters should look like (this, Rock N Roll, Destro, Firefly), to entirely new characters that seem to have no basis anywhere (ninjas, sniper Trooper, desert Troopers, Crimson CC). So. . .I'm not sure any kind of critique is off-limits. No matter which way they go, they are targeting certain collectors they targeted in the past, while potentially annoying others they also targeted previously.
