What's silly is they took it away a while back. Looks like they've been sticking it back in!

One of the management in Sideshow must really love the doll dot.

I still don't get what the big deal is about a "doll dot''? It's just a small white dot, and SS did it on purpose since the other figures don't seem to have it, which only means one thing, SS doesn't have to use that "paint technique", but they did, because they chose to use it. Perhaps SS thinks it makes the figure look more like a comic book character, or maybe....no, I can't think of any other reasons for them to use the "white dot of death" ... :lol

it's definitely weird. comic book artists use it because they are dealing with a two-dimensional medium. there's no excuse for it on a doll (of any kind) since it's the job of a proper gloss on the eyes to catch that light.

bizarre, yes.

I'm more concerned about the flash seam across his fingers.. than a small white dot on his eye...the seam looks like hell!

I think somebody lost his marbles. 195 euro for this. Really? Even though the figure looks splendid, I wouldn't pay that kind of money. I'll wait for the Arkham Joker instead.

dang, i ain't a fan of the arkham joker. actually kinda wish hot toys was doing the comic-style one and leave the other to ssc. then again, maybe this one will turn out okay.

I got Sideshow's email last night and remembered I wanted to check out this figure. I was excited to see Sideshow doing this line, and liked what I saw at SDCC last year. I must say the Joker turned out really well. Of course that's due in no small part to Kato's beautiful tailoring. And how business savvy it was of Sideshow to start with Joker? They know not to blow their wad in their first shot.

However, I'm really surprised that the price is $180! I really thought it would be $125-$150 tops. That price is just too high and too close to HT prices for me to justify. After all, Black Widow and Agent Coulson are $190 and $175 respectively. Granted these two don't have second head sculpts, but they're still close in terms of what you get with the figure. And as good as these looked at SDCC, I'm still skeptical that they are indeed HT quality.

HT also has it over SSC in terms of production clothing quality (prototypes don't always match production with SSC, though they usually are pretty close with HT), which is a factor for me, and they have the superior base bodies. SSC does accessories pretty well. In terms of paint, I think Joker and this line in general is better suited to some of Sideshow's strengths because they may be able to get away with less realistic paint apps. SSC seems to do a fine job with all the helmeted Star Wars guys that don't need that kind of nuance. But even with Joker, you'll probably get the damn doll dot :lol

And a great sculpt is important of course (I think Trevor Grove is the best damn sculptor in existence, and he does SSC), but without great paint you don't get to see the sculpt's potential. Look no further than this before and after from Skiman's blog:

I agree with Karamazov. While Sideshow has gotten much better since their $50 figure days, I think they still fall a bit short of HT's, especially when it comes to human paint apps.

Still looking forward to seeing the rest of the line. Just disappointed at the price!

for me this is still way better value than hot toys $280 for the new ledger joker. how many people are really going to use the table and chairs? in an ikea dio maybe?

give me a comic accurate figure with a pair of joker fish any day.

Exactly. The dot is idiotic. When the light catches his eye the white paint is pointless and redundent. In literally every case of the "doll dot" it just looks the the character has something in his eye.

Not a deal breaker in this case. Ordered.

I love the comic look but Idk how anyone could so easily drop the DX11.

Pretty simple actualy. I don't much care for the look of it. I loved ledeger's portrayal of the joker, but I did not much care for the character design. It's a 3 star effort at best. But I get that it needed to fit in with Nolan's " GRIMDARK REAL WORLD ROFTL" setting he was doing his take on batman in. Glad it's over. PErhaps next time we can get a director just as talented, but dons't openly hate comics so much.

Lee's design work is even worse than his overrated art. :lol

Say what you want. These are the x-men to me.

That's where I started, and those were Lee's designs AFAIK. Those are the voices I hear in my head when I read the comics to this day.

Becuase in person, it looks really bad. it works for still images from specific angles. but in-hand ,the "doll dot" looks Very, very weird except from those same angles.

It works so much better to simply NOT use it, and gloss the eyes.

Definitely going to pick up some of these accessories for Jack Joker. Maybe even pick up the gloves and paint them. They don't have the cuff but whatever.
