Mine should be here Thursday !!!!
SSC needs to leave the 1/6th Scale figures to Hot Toys. What a hot mess!
One of the things that I think is at least worthy of consideration, is that while Sideshow seems to be upping the price they are matching it by the amount of stuff you get in the box. Throwing in multiple hands, accessories, etc. It seems like the majority of their releases of late have two heads in the box.
In other words, you get a hell of a lot more with a Sideshow figure than you do a Hot Toys figure.
But at the same time, it seems the hobby has driven more towards "display pieces" rather than "I like to have fun with my figures", and most people don't seem to care about the extras.
So after handling him for a little bit here are some thoughts.
1) Great head sculpts.
2) Clothing is good but could have been better. Shirt collars always want to point up, jacket collars always raised. You are going to have to do some homework to get them to look right. Another thing to note is that the clothing is not fitted around the body. The Joker 2.0 for example was extremely well fitted , the clothing here can easily be slid on and off and has a looser or baggier quality.
3) Sideshow includes pegs for each swappable hand, something Hot Toys could learn from.
4) The Accessories don't look right in some of the hands, for example, the revolver just doesn't seem to want to sit right in the left or right hands that are designed for it and when you do get it situated, something just looks off.
5) The body is not the greatest. Trying to swap the heads is like a tugging match, it's really stuck in there, the knees are extremely hard to bend and the feet are just plain wobbly.
6) Good effort from Sideshow, but they are no where near Hot Toys territory yet when it comes to the final product and presentation.
Edit: I actually decided to return this figure and ask for a refund. After going back and realizing this figure cost $190, I simply cannot justify the price when compared to the quality of the final figure. I also cancelled my Harley Quinn based on this release. I'll just stick to the Premium Format line for these figures.
Some quick photos with my camera phone.

it's so badly futzed in the video, it's hard to tell. the original design, if you can get it to look like this, is amazing:
can't wait to see in-hand picks from the forum peeps.
I think that's kato's handmade suit/outfit. I don't think futzing can make it look that good. Maybe ironing the suit could make it look almost as good as the proto...maybe.
looking forward to your review, man! Like I said in thr yoda thread, really like seeing you branch out from time to time to some stuff other than TFs. Though, I watch your video for thr DMK Optimus at least twice a month. I still can't decide on that thing
I'd be willing to bet that Maglor (the futzmaster IMO) will be able to make it look great
Thank you VERY much. The reception has been terrific and really has me excited about doing more.
As for the DMK Optimus, if you're on the fence, i'd probably pass on him. He's a very fragile figure. As you go along, i do recommend gluing parts as you build him to make him more solid. But that's tough because you don't know what to glue. When it's put together, it looks terrific. But it is a model kid, the plastic isn't anything outstanding. It's not gonna handle a drop test for example lol
