I didn't hate the first two seasons as much as most people here, as I thought they did have some interesting ideas sprinkled throughout, but I would agree the tone felt very off and it seemed to be trying way too hard to be "dark and edgy". And the depiction of Starfleet and the Federation in general always kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

So it was really nice to see Matalas do some course correcting with S3 and bring back the more optimistic spirit and a Starfleet that you could actually imagine people wanting to join and be a part of.
I will admit to being biased when it comes to many things Star Trek, particularly Next Generation, which I love. I'll probably never be able to look at Picard's first two seasons in a clear-eyed way because it was so off and different from what Next Generation was supposed to be, in my eyes. If it were just some random sci-fi show and Picard, the Federation, etc. were swapped out with new characters and organizations I might have felt it was fine.

Why does section 31 have kirks body?
No idea - I can get behind Starfleet removing his body during the rescue of the Enterprise’s crew but you’d think he’d be given some ceremonial burial. What’s weird is it seemed like he had bio-signs on that display.

I watch this pod but my God I canny stand Dominic Keating. He constantly interrupts guests and says really inappropriate things throughout.
Agreed. He really needs to tone it down and let the guests finish a bloody sentence. Also, what on earth possessed him to mention Saville?
Did you see the one where he was the guest and Conner interviewed him? They has to upload it in several parts 🤣
Thought this was an interesting one, hearing Frakes opinion on the Picard series. He puts the success of season 3 down to Matalas.

I asked a good question about Riker and they never asked him. All their Patreon followers get first dibs.

Keating really comes across as a bit of a creep to be honest. Trinneer is far more relaxed, letting the conversation breathe.

I watched an interview with him, it wasn't the shuttle pod show it was something else where he and Connor were attending a convention.
I can't recall how it came up but they were talking about swapping bodies with Jeri Ryan. Keating said something like, "she wouldn't want it back after I was through with it".
I'm not a particularly sensitive person, not typically offended by jokes, but that was a damn creepy thing to say.

The mind of any red-blooded male would go there but, yeah, he should have a bit of tact.

Terry Matalas is an extremely talented writer and director. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of Trek and made sure season 3 was steered in the direction it ended up. I highly recommend any interview with him especially since the season ended to see him discuss it in detail. I've linked some below.

In the second interview, he has boxes of vintage trading cards from movies like Raiders and Batman behind him as well as Kenner carded POTF figures.
