Is anyone else planning to rewatch all 12 epsiodes in one sitting? I need to see how all the episodes play together in one shot.
Yes, watching it with my kids I miss bits especially all the dialogue heavy earlier episodes, so I’m going to dig in and rewatch the whole thing over a couple of nights. It’s easy to do this when you are a single parent lol.

Also, no idea how it’s calculated but Andor is in the Top 10 streaming shows this week in Australia. That’s a positive sign.

For sure going to. I was planning on it anyway, but my dad wants to check it out.

It’s pretty sad though, I have one “real life” friend who is pretty into SW, and he tapped out after the first three episodes and doesn’t have any interest in continuing, which is unfortunate, because it’s really good. He said the first three reminded him of soap operas his mom watches. We are no longer friends. Kidding…

Thinking more about the last episode
the sequence with Luthen’s ship was incredible. It was easy to sort of dismiss it from the previews and a “cringe” kind of thing, but the sequence was really cool. When he destroyed the tractor dish, that looked amazing. Also “Cantwell Class” made me smile.

Another thing I’ll say about this show, there is no shortage of attractive women. Bix is a given, she’s unreal, but I am obsessed with Cinta whenever she is on screen - absolutely gorgeous woman. Mommy Mothma is such a babe too.

This. I actually really really like Denise Gough and Vel as well (she reminds me a bit of the wonderful Rhea Seehorn).

Someone said it earlier in the thread and it keeps ringing in my head: imagine if this had come out straight after SW (77) - it would feel absolutely right as SW. The way the imperials were presented (written, acted, etc) in SW perfectly aligns with this. The other stuff would have then naturally aligned.

Yes, the whole bureaucracy of it. Plus it has a very seventies vibe generally anyway. Gilroy seems to come from that Coppola mid seventies style.

I’ve still only watched the first two episodes
I stopped watching halfway through the second episode because I wasn't feeling it and thought that HOTD was so much better. Then HOTD jumped the shark with that catastrophic recast five episodes in prompting me to give Andor another chance and thank God I did!

I'm very curious how Andor will play on a 2nd re-watch. I wonder if the slow burn will feel more peppy a second time around... or if further viewings will be tough?

I've actually found them to be much better on second viewing. There's no expectations, or any hinderance - just sit back, absorb it all, find things you missed or didn't appreciate without context, and (particularly if you do the 3 block eps at a time) enjoy the "movie."

I put Cinta above Bix in my list for a reason. I think folk overlooked her but she is HAWWWWT! (Bix is close 2nd obviously)

People should hopefully come round eventually, when they realise it has quality acting and a quality script.

The initial aversion, and it's been expressed here, is that it's not 'Star Warsy' enough. But it's mainly because the makers have removed a lot of the silliness that's become associated with Star Wars over the years.

Andor takes Star Wars back to its grim 1977 roots which didn't shy away from torture or murder.

The real diversion from the original is the same that Lucas did in the PT: rather than gloss over detail in order to present space opera, Lucas showed the political machinations, the trade war and the eventual power grab by Palpatine.

Andor delves even further into the minutiae. Essentially it isn't what Star Wars was originally (a Flash Gordon cliffhanger inspired adventure), yet it is a fascinating and worthy take on it.

The series sometimes reminds me of Alien, because you watch that futuristic film now and have to get your head around the fact that the Nostomro has 1970s technology (i.e., cathode ray tube screens).

Andor does the same thing. Starships can travel faster than the speed of light, but other technology would be considered vintage by today's standards.

For me it makes it all the more interesting visually, and more connected to 1977. Far better than the Star Trek: Discovery approach of making everything far too advanced before its time, just because CGI makes it possible nowadays.
