I'm going to pick it up on black friday. Also got cod: boIII

I still haven't bought COD which is unlike me, I'm normally on that game as soon as its out. I'm just not feeling it since the jet packs got introduced into it unfortunately

But I'm just playing the 10hr trial of SW but this will be a day one purchase for me

Couldn't care less about this Battlefront as it stands, but as somebody who gave up on cod many years ago, I was tempted by Black ops III actually. Unfortunately the PC version released with some serious issues so that is on a back burner.

Playing on EA Access (I figure $5 is fine to play it a bit early)

There's enough game modes, but I feel that there's not enough map variation, it might have been better to make more locations for the different modes than to use just the 4 planets. I'm not sure how much work that would have been, but it does feel a bit light on that point. Still, it's fun, and there's enough content that you'll get your money's worth. Which I figure if you get something like 16 hours out of it then it's worth the cost.

wait whaaa? Is it only for xbox one on early access I'm guessing?

Yeah, EA Access is only on Xbox One, besides the other EA games you can play for the subscription you get early access to Battlefront that you can play for 10 hours like a trial.

Hey guys how important is online play in Battlefront? Is it just as fun to play single play or split screen? I ask because my new internet isn't as fast as I'm used to and I wonder if I just should upgrade.

For offline/single player you don't have as many gameplay options. There are 3 specific sets of games types for single player:

1--Training:
X-Wing, Speeder Bike Chase, Darth Vader, AT-ST, and Snowspeeder
2--Battles:
Fight AI on each 4 planets
Hero Battles on each 4 planets
3--Survival:
Survive 15 waves on each 4 planets

Each one gives credits based off the level of difficulty you complete, Survival is the longest lasting about 20-30 minutes to complete

So there's maybe 3 hours of single player gameplay if you do everything once. And all of those can be done split-screen. I think if you're offline then you probably don't earn credits which are used to buy unlocks for your multiplayer character.

How long are the "battles"?

Getting this for Xmas, but my plan was to only do offline, so was pretty disappointed that there was no campaign. Not a fan of multiplayer online games, but the worlds look so great and it's the SW universe so I knew I'd have to at least play it a bit.

Okay, thanks for the info.

one more day ! :) looking forward to it like a little child :D

For PC you can get a discount at GreenManGaming.com they'll always have some kind of online coupon going on (got it for $40 there)

For console, you might be able to get a discount on Amazon if you're a Prime member, sometimes they have discounts that way.
There's no retailer exclusive items. For consoles there's not much chance of a good discount before the end of the year since it's pretty close to Christmas already

I just read, no space battles or driving an AT-AT?!!
Oh well, hurry up for Rogue Squadron 3 (what was the last one, I think I missed that) or TIE fighter 2 then!

No space battles, but there is a spaceship dogfighting mode, just not in space.
You can use an AT-AT but you can only control its shooting

So is the game set in classes like battlefield so you can have long distance shooting like the recon class and closer quarters weapons and how do the guns vary ?

I know you can select the sniper weapon and then re charge it after a shot but just wondered if you can have it as a primary weapon...?

I haven't been keeping up with store exclusives, etc.

Anybody know the best place to get it or the best deal?

best buy has it with a $10 back in reward points and a $10 discount for the PS Plus for a year subscription

There's no classes, you just choose the items you like to use. There's something like 24 weapons to unlock, I haven't gone through all of them but some have more damage but lower firing rate, etc. There may be one that's more like a sniper rifle, though probably not quite like the rechargeable one since that's a special ability that should be more powerful than the standard weapons.
You can customize your character, there's something like 10 faces each with variations you can choose and then a few different alien types.
