Neat idea, but with Jabba and Throne and Boba Fett PF on the way, not to mention having purchased EVERY SS SW 1/6 figure so far...I have to start drawing the line somewhere...and this was the first item I decided to say 'meh' too...Just can't get EVERYTHING they make!

Plus, I gotta keep room for the LOTR collection and all the Hot Toys ALIENS stuff (like that POWER-LOADER!), and ED-209 is already a space-hog. Where am I gonna fit the Loader, Jabba and Throne, and the Boba Fett PF...nevermind a 1/6 chess table who's space on the shelf could be better saved for an actual figure or two...

I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all but I'm not surprised it sold out quickly. It's a great high quality Star Wars piece that is very unique. As far as I know there isn't anything like it around. Think of all the people that own 12" figures from Sideshow, Hasbro, etc, that want to make mini scenes with their characters and now have the option to do so.

I love the fact that Sideshow tries things that nobody has thought of before. It's the reason I only buy their products.

I'm sure I'm going to get attacked by the fans with photo after photo of previous chess set's if I'm wrong....so get googling

Think of all the people that own 12" figures from Sideshow, Hasbro, etc, that want to make mini scenes with their characters and now have the option to do so.

And don't forget, it is a great replica on its own merit. I'm happy that diorama builders and scene posers have a great accessory to work with, but that's never been my bag, baby . I just like it because it is unique.

29 minutes? Wow, glad I made it in for this one. I think this was the fastest that I ever got my order placed as well. Although, like many others here, I thought $50 was a bit steep. I had expected $25 or $35 tops. However, my completist neurosis prevented me from bypassing this one!

Got back from doing my taxes and ran to the computer to snatch this bad boy up, got the order in at 10:25:58 pacific. As said earlier it was a breeze, which is good considering it sold out 3 minutes later.

Just to put my two cents in this debate, I love this piece! While $50 is a little expensive, Its well worth the money. I had planned on being a compltist with this line, but ended up passing on the Endor Troopers and Plo. Now I'm glad I did, the 200+ I saved is put to good use for such an iconic item. You know, Jabba was a little expensive too, but now that he's in hand I haven't heard a single complaint about price.
