And don't forget, it is a great replica on its own merit. I'm happy that diorama builders and scene posers have a great accessory to work with, but that's never been my bag, baby . I just like it because it is unique.

Exactly my feelings. It is a good prop by itself.

The thing is, most SW collectors have brought with them their old habits and expectations of high quantities and lower prices.

Would it had been better if this piece had never existed at all?

I think the negative backlash is the confusing element that this piece IS being released as a stand alone piece option. Had they already given us R2 and Chewie, it'd be "Oh cool, if you want to pose them that way you can now!" The fact that no ANH 12" have been announced makes this piece that much more cryptic. I'm interested to see how this plays out at SDCC though...

When ROTS was coming out in the theater, I had a party with a bunch of SW fans, and I made "commemorative" DVDs for everyone, full of trailers, web docs, and other stuff. One "bonus" I put on the discs was the Chocolate mPIRE video from the M&M web site. It was very well-received.

You could always pose your old Hasbro figures with this until Sideshow or Medicom or whoever puts out some better quality ones.

Well, I am glad that all the fans' that wanted this, got it. I passed.

With this selling out, it does concern me that Sideshow now feels that we will buy everything they make, and that we will get more of these table sets before actual characters.

I completely forgot about this. I got on the waitlist and have no idea if I'll end up keeping it or not. Even if Chewie and or Droids are announced. That's not exactly how I planned on posing them together.

I actually thought to preorder it, but last night I placed another piece in my shopping basket for some (drunken) reason, and at checkout time I couldn't change quantities.

Since I didn't want to have the two on the same order, I passed on the table. Just wasn't meant to be, I guess.
