KOTR has been really good so far.

It's been a long while since a Star Wars comic has really thrilled me like this one has. Since it's set in the "past", it has that feel of a universe to be discovered, just like the old Marvel comics had at the time before ESB.

Not wanting to give anything away, but the basic concept, a Padawan on the run from evil Jedi, was inspired.

Sometimes books centering on a Jedi have a hard time constructing worthy challenges. Here, the hero is clearly over-matched, contributing to the ANH feel of the story.

I'm still undecided on Star Wars: Legacy, giving it a few more issues. I love the look and concept of Imperial Knights, but they haven't been featured enough yet.

I say read any of the Tag & Bink stuff, really funny. I think a trade is suppossed to come out soon. For those who don't know, Tag & Bink are 2 minor characters who happen to bumble into every major battle or event in the OT (even a lil in the PT) and inadvertantly save the day. Very clever.

the Tag & Bink books were definitely funny and a good read. I'm liking the new KOTOR series, but like others have said, Legacy has been disappointing. Perhaps I have to re-read it in order.

I'm reading the Star Wars: Legacy comic series. It's a pretty good series so far. Should get more interesting later on. But what is MUCH better if the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force novel series. That series is amazing, and I recommend it to anybody.

I grew up with the Marvel Star Wars comics, and they became even more important than the films to me (mainly because they came out more often). Sure, some of the stories were whacky, and there were continuity glitches (humanoid Jabba, anyone?) but hey, it was a Star Wars fix.

But my fave comic book story arc of all time is Dark Empire.

Is 'Empire' any good? Ive never read it but ive been thinking of buying either some back issues off ebay or a couple of the trade paperback versions lately.
id be curious to know what you guys think to it. The KOTOR book sounds like it might be a decent read. Im quite into the Video games and quite like that 'way back in the past' setting. So thats another book i might be interested in. Ive not really read many star wars comic books since the days of the marvel series way back when i was a kid. (Although i did read dark empire, but i was kind of dissapointed)

I just recently picked up the star wars comics companion book and found that quite interesting, so its kind of made me curious to read some SW comics

BTW, Are those 'classic star wars- a long time ago..' collected edidtions in colour? or are they B+W like the marvel 'essentials' books?

The compilations of the monthly comic books (with the comic art on the covers) have been lovingly recolored on glossy paper, so they're even better than the original comics! The compilations of the newspaper strips (the ones with the Ralph McQuarrie covers) are black and white.

And IMHO Dark Empire is the quintessential Star Wars comic. Not only does it boast Cam Kennedy's stylistic art, but it has Luke turning to the dark side, the return of both the Emperor and Boba Fett, Jedi and Sith holocrons, and cloning! What more could you want?

There are also Dark Empire II and Empire's End to follow up.

Star Wars: Dark Times #1--The Path to Nowhere

Does anyone know about the alternate cover (looks like the original pencils and inks without coloring) for this one that was only sold at a hand full of comic shops around the country? The local comic shop in Austin (Round Rock) was selected as one of the retailers and they still have it available (for $10) if anyone needs one, but it is limited to 2 copies per customer, so I don't know how many I would ultimately be able to acquire.

By the way, is it worth more than $10 in the comic market?

Really? I find them quite interesting...seem to tie into the Legacy of the Force Novels, which I'm still not sure is good or not. Might give too much information away about about the novels....
