Does he though? Without Star Wars we’d probably all be occasionally asking ourselves “Whatever happened to that guy who made American Graffiti?” :lol
If there was no Star Wars, George probably still would've created Indiana Jones and written the story concept for Raiders. And he might've decided to direct it himself in that scenario. What that would've meant for the comparative success of that film (and the franchise) I'll leave to your imagination.

Without Star Wars, he'd definitely have less money . . . but I'd have more. :lol

I considered that when I made my American Graffiti joke. But without Star Wars it's also possible that (a) Spielberg and he never become friends/collaborators and (b) no movie studio green lights a movie based on the old serials he loved during his childhood. It's simply impossible to say with any certainty. It's not Marvel, but Lucas without Star Wars would make one fascinating What If? episode. My money would be on his becoming like Kevin Smith's character in Live Free or Die Hard - a bitter, tech-savvy loser living in his mom's basement & destined to be forgotten. :lol

Without Star Wars, he would not have gotten Raiders off the ground. He still would have been friends with Spielberg. Lucas may have pushed his Howard the Duck project earlier... but more likely we would have a comedic American Graffiti 2 in 1979 with Spielberg directing (instead of him doing 1941).

So you're saying George would eventually need to make room for Spielberg on that basement couch....

A more interesting question is what if George had got the rights to Flash Gordon? We would have got the best Flash Gordon ever but no Star Wars and no Flash Gordon 1980 (or Queen soundtrack!)

I considered doing a poll on this, but probably not worth its own thread, so:

Was the Final Order a decent plot point?
  • Yes, it makes sense the Emperor would have a contingency plan
  • No, his overconfidence was his weakness

Palpatine was arrogant but he was also vindictive and a master planner with a very long view. So the contingency plan fits.

(I think we all know how I feel about the execution of said plot point by now. ;))

Did you just post a link to wegot this covered? The most unreliable click bait site on the Internet? Yikes. I know you liked the ST but relying on them for news is just low lol
