What I also remember as a kid about the OT was when Luke faces Vader in ESB there was this air of suspense in that duel because Vader felt like the boogeyman that would pop out of nowhere from the dark and started slashing. Nowadays it's all about spectacle and flashy moves which I have nothing against when done well.

Also the green lightsaber Luke had in ROTJ felt as what I would say as the costume upgrade/power up to beat the bad guy by today's standards of superhero movies.

JP had some jaw dropping moments (first Brachiosauruses, T-Rex escape) but I can't say that the movie as a whole had anywhere near the same magic of Star Wars for me. I'm in the camp that feels that LOTR was the closest thing that we ever got to reliving the magic of the OT.
I hate it when we agree. :ROFLMAO:

If only the og micro series clone wars cartoon had been the actual CW Lucas gave us in the PT it would’ve been so awesome, the clones and GG are so bad ass in them.

Speaking of lightsaber choreography, I liked what Corridor Crew did here:

Basically their fight choreographer based the duels on how lightsaber moves would be based on the sword having little to no mass (it is light/plasma) and if it burned/cut on contact. Also a bit of the psychology of the fight where they start off testing each other first with rising aggression as the fight goes on.

I dig it. I know I'm in the minority here, but I'll gladly take a lightsaber duel that plays out more realistically over the flashy acrobatic twirls, flips, and superficial showmanship of the ones preferred by most fans. To this day, I still have no problem with the ANH duel. Two battle-tested vets measuring each other out, mindful of not wanting to make a fatal mistake. Being deliberate, careful, and defensive while trying to devise a way to get the opponent to leave the opening. Telling a story.

And I agree with you that the story told by those guys dueling in that video is excellent. More satisfying to me than most post-OT SW duels. The lightsaber is supposed to be the epitome of a deadly weapon, and you'd have to be an idiot to be flipping and twirling needlessly against an opponent who just needs to make contact with it. Especially with an opponent who is supposed to have reflexes as heightened as those of a Jedi. The killing strike in the PT duels should've been available to a Jedi/Sith countless times.

I'm not a huge Filoni fan, but he delivered my favorite lightsaber duel post OT (albeit in an animated show). The quickly resolved one between Kenobi and Maul in Rebels was terrific, IMO. Reminiscent of the types of sword duel resolutions done by Kurosawa. That's the way it should be: over-aggressive opponent = dead opponent in a hurry.

Thanks for posting that vid! :duff

I loved that duel too and is one of my favorites. I never watched those animated shows (they weren't widely available in my country) but I did get to watch that duel in YouTube. The duel began as soon as they started talking. I loved how Kenobi only drew his saber when he realized there was no alternative (when Maul realized Kenobi was there to protect someone).

Finally, I love how that duel ended with Kenobi faking out and baiting Maul to do the same move Maul used to defeat Qui-Gon and then countering it with 1 decisive move.

It was amazing. :)

Very cool.

After she kissed him was that his first smile in the trilogy?

Ben finished what Anakin started.

Han disappeared before returning to save Luke from Vader in ANH bringing on the rise of skywalker.

Ben disappeared before returning to save Rey in TROS bringing on the rise of skywalker.

I also like that Ben learned that to save others it required sacrificing himself vs Anakin being tricked that to save others you were required to be destructive and sacrifice others and cheat the balance of life taking more than what was possible with refusing to give anything up.

What he sacrificed another gained just like with his parents.

And both Solos end their trilogies making out with the bad guy's daughter/granddaughter.

Plus Palpatine tells Ben "as I fell so falls the last Skywalker." If anyone doesn't want it to be about Rey then the title could easily refer to Ben (the last Skywalker) rising out of the pit at the end.

I know right.

PT Palpatine wanted to cheat death (which he did temporarily) and PT Anakin wanted to "become more powerful than any Jedi" so that he could "keep people from dying." Palpatine's heir (Rey) really did cheat death when Anakin's heir (Ben Solo) resurrected her in order to keep her from dying. Both bloodline's ultimate quests fulfilled.

… I’m not even gonna say anything. Lol

And your blind faith in a poorly written story is as sad as it is laughable. Sorry khev. Your still my buddy tho
I know that you don't respect my opinions but that blanket dismissiveness actually makes you come across as the blind one. I can see good and bad in every SW film but you can't? :dunno

Yep no matter the film there is always something each of finds lacking. Art is subjective and somethings are minor quibbles and some are deal breakers for us to enjoy. I love a lot of films and shows and some are very cheesy or very dated but I still love them. Some are considered masterpieces by the masses but to me I may not get as much enjoyment out of them. I love the discussions on here where they stay civil. I tend to agree with alot members opinions on here but not every time with the same person. We are all fans of something and not everyone likes everything equally. Ii am a big Punisher fan and even though all movies and shows have nailed something of the character nothing has been a bullseye for me.

I always tell you I can??? I talk about how bad the pt movies are and how I like them but they aren’t perfect . Don’t get so sensitive all of the sudden . I told you before that the st had great cinematography and had great practical affects. Also I was hyped for the ST. It fell flat for me. I love Kylie sword to and said he was the best developed out of the three.

also who said I don’t respect your opinions? We have debated on here multiple times about the likes and dislikes. I never once said your opnion never mattered. I just challenged it but I always respected you stood your ground. Don’t know where you got that from
