Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Why would such a large chunk of Death Star be intact after the explosions we saw in the OT?

I know that's nitpicky fanboy stuff, but that just wouldn't happen.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

You know what palpatine makes sense now because it would finish the Darth Plageuis storyline once and for all

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.... sadly, it does make sense though.

I don't want palpatine simply as an act of desperation to appeal to fans.

Exactly. Brought out of retirement for no more than Lando appeal. Another nod to what once was.

One thing I will miss with these movies is John Williams music. Love me some Williams. Although his new stuff is not as good as his 70’s and 80’s music I still look forward to hearing his work.

Like the Resistance at the end of TLJ I see that there's just the tiniest group of us excited for this. So be it, bring it on!

Kind of crazy how just this teaser really evokes a sense of this being a true sequel to TFA and not an extension of TLJ at all. Pretty sweet huh, ajp, lol.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Cautiously......verrrry cautiously optimistic. It actually felt like SW for once.

Why, cause of the music? Every teaser trailer since Episode One has relied on the music to instantly pull on fans' heartstrings.

I know I'm just a cynical ******* but this just felt like a trailer for Corporate Product Number 42769 to me. Nothing about it felt authentic. Just the same old heartless sterile crap Disney has churned out since they bought SW.

In the expanded universe, palps had a secret facilities that stored clones of himself, should he ever die.......

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I'm excited. Thought it was a cool teaser; love the idea of Palpatine coming back. My guess is it'll be a flashback, but who knows.

So Luke giving the same line he spoke in TLJ ("no one is ever really gone") that gives way to the Palpatine laugh (an awesome transition!), and speaking to Rey as a ghost (presumably), doesn't feel like an extension of TLJ to you at all?

I'm excited. I'm just more cautious than ever. The Palpatine thing worries me. I don't want every movie from now on to just regurgitate characters, I want new stuff.

I was one of the few who appreciated TLJ for trying to forge new ground. I feel like the studio is too frightened to try anything different now.

But it looks beautiful, and I will be there opening weekend.

Well sure but those are also lines that I could have imagined Luke saying to Rey as a living person in the direct sequel to TFA.

JJ laid a great foundation for a new trilogy with The Force Awakens only for Rian to **** on that potential with his "creativity". This last film looks to me like an attempt to salvage what JJ started but it's too late. Looks as if some of the choices made in this film won't fit with tone and trajectory The Last Jedi left us with but will instead be fan service for the overwhelming negative views of TLJ.
