Just to make conversation- I personally don't care what other people believe as long as it isn't hurting anyone or anything. Just leave me out of it. My time is precious to me and I don't want to be rude to all you bible thumpers by walking away from you....so don't make me.

Well personally I don't think its rude to deal with them in the same way you would deal with those people who work at kiosks in the mall and try to talk you in to buying something or whatever. In this instance I'm talking about someone saying "I believe the Bible is true" and someone else feels the need to say, "But it's not true." In the first instance no one was trying to persuade anyone to their way, just stating a personal belief just like saying I think chocolate is the best flavor ice cream.

It's not that they feel compelled to "counter" that belief but to ridicule it. The problem appears to be that they feel threatened somehow with Jesus Christ in particular. If it were about Mohammed, this thread would have been a page long, tops. Buddha, and the thread would have already disappeared to page 2. But bring up Jesus and these people scurry out of the woodwork with their vitrolic diatribe.

I'm just honestly curious as to why this thread has continued in it's present form. If the thread had been about mocking a race or sexual preference, it would have been locked long ago. I'd be curious to hear a mod's opinion on the matter.

I don't think this is what you're saying but just because it does get talked about doesn't mean those talking about it are bible thumpers.

I was calling the people that come up to me and preach bible thumpers. More as a funny term of endearment than anything else. I felt like talking tonight....I felt like it was an acceptable use of my time. Religion is funny to me.
