He's not back as far as I'm concerned. Tcw is a parallel world for me. That's my choice ( I accept that you view may differ)
Maul was bad ass and that's what made this death so cool.
And largely this is what I struggle with on the tcw. Dooku is cool because he doesn't fight anakin and when he does he's killed. Having characters continuely battle each other makes it like the poorest aspect of marvel comics.
I am prepared to be persuaded other wise but I can't see them managing it :dunno

Time out. Are you saying Darth Maul's death was cool? :horror

To the people bringing up him being cut in half, he's not human, we have no idea what the inside of a Zabrak looks like, they might have no vital organs in their abdomens, or they might be like starfish and have it be no biggie!

Either way, I always wanted to see more of him and I'm glad he's back :D

Yes. Not because I don't like him and like most people I watched in awe as he lit up that lightsaber. But he wasn't overused or ruined by having his coolness worn away by weaker and weaker stories.
I loved the comics set befor Tpm where he tore black sun a new one, but dead needs to be dead. No impact no drama

Might work for fantastic four doesn't work in star
Wars. Also didnt work for Jason Todd.

Vader. Super strong in the force. Nearly died kept alive by sidious.
Grievous. Mangled and according to the short story killed and implanted straight away.
Luke. Slowly slid to a halt.

Maul. Cut in half and fell god knows how far and received no assistance.

Mummmmm

Maul= dog food

Where did you fine the back story on Grievous at? For someone/thing that has so much power. He does run alot. Then again when he fights you will see him with his, I forget what they are called.

Grievous backstory was in a short story in the insider.
Even Mace describes him as a coward. I thought that was the point that he ambushes Jedi and kills them but can't take the in a fair fight.

But then the run away thing was taken too far.

Grievous' backstory is mentioned in Labyrinth of Evil. Great book.

While I'm looking forward to the finale and how it plays out (hopefully better than the 'big' Boba arc last year), my Clone Trooper taste has not been satisfied this season.

I thought he was cool. Said very little, did so much. The person who played Maul was the person who was the sword master for the movie. Given that it added to his cool.

Well, yeah, I'm agreeing that Darth Maul was cool. But his death!? Granted, part of his cool factor was his mystery. A man of few words, in fact, I thought he spoke too much in TPM. Even some of his backstories make him less cool, in my opinion, so I'm with you there. But his death was one of the lamest things in Episode 1, and that says alot. Here, he has Obi-Wan beaten, clinging to dear life on the side of a large shaft. And what does he do? He mindlessly and childishly swings his lightsaber like a toy. Doesn't even try to force push him or anything. I don't even want to bring up that he left Qui Gonn's lightsaber on the floor, which may not be a big deal if Maul was fighting someone like you or I, but if you have trained your entire life using the force and fighting force users, leaving any weapons lying aroud should be a big No-No. And then he stands there like a statue when Obi Wan does like 3 front flips over him and gashes him across the stomach...which left him about 4 whole seconds to counter, or block, or hell, do something. But he doesn't....and then he tumbles, baffled and in pieces, to his death? Really??

I always felt the way he went out was very damaging to Darth Maul's reputation.

Yeah, agreed. Umbara was great, so I'm not too upset, but it would have been nice to see some more big scale battles. I think the 4 episode arcs are a bit much...and should used more sparingly. I probably did not need 3 episodes of the water battle in the beginning, multiple episodes of threepio and R2, and even though I liked them, the slavers and bounty hunters arc could haven been trimmed.

I agree. He gets a puzzled look on his face, then when Obi Wan leaps over his head, he stands like an ass and lets himself get cut in two. When Anakin tries this trick with Obi Wan, he got his arm and legs hacked off. I don't think it's such a cool move that Maul shouldn't have anticipated something like that happening and reacted to it.

I like the story elements that have been teased so far for Maul's CW return. Maybe Maul will get a chance to show off some new moves...revenge!

yeah, wouldn't it have made more sense for Maul to at least swing and miss while having Obi Wan duck and cut him in? I've always wondered why Maul just stood there looking puzzled.

Maybe Qui Gon used all he had left to "force freeze" him?:lol

I actually enjoyed tonight's episode very much and can't wait to see it in blu-ray when that comes out.

Other than that, I'm excited to see next weeks episode with who appears to be a young Dengar and Boba in some kind of armor.

Yeah I have to agree that the way he died was weak. I assumed it was meant to lead to the whole higher ground thing in rots.
That obi was doomed but did something, perhaps in the force, that enabled him to make that leap and do the unthinkable hence punking maul.

And as I said setting up the end of rots.
Which in itself worked better in the novelisation.

That said I still think that characters that seem to die without every second of their life being doucumented are better.

Just wish dave hasnt gone there

Really? I thought tonights episode was cool in parts, but the whole zombie army was crap. I really cant stand bringing that in to the star wars universe. I know star wars is fantasy, but I prefer keeping the living dead out of star wars all together.

to be honest, it didn't bother me as much probably because of the geonosis arc a couple of seasons back, but I saw it more as that old witch lady being a "puppeteer" to them more so than them actually being zombies.

That's why words can't describe how cool it was when Grievous pretty much just walked up to her and gutted her like she was nothing. I wish GG was portrayed like this more often. They could always keep how he runs away, but at least show him doing menacing stuff like he did this episode to show exactly why he's the Separatist General.

does anyone know where boba's helmet design came from, i'm assuming its another concept

I really enjoyed this episode - very dark, and it helped bring resolution to a lot of the loose threads left by the Nightsisters arc from season 3. Didn't mind the army, I'm assuming a lot of the magicks used by the Nightsisters are actually ways of channeling the Dark Side of the Force, in a manner different than that used by the Sith. And as someone once said "The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities 'some' consider to be unnatural." That army was about as unnatural as it gets; pity it was fighting droids, I imagine that army would scare the crap out of living opponents! Nice to see the brutal tactician in Grievous, merciless and direct. He runs when the odds are against him, but when he has an advantage - look out! I was sad at the inevitable outcome, but can I just say how happy I am with the amount of character development Ventress has had! I always liked her character, but at the outset of this series, she was a little on the two-dimesnional-standard-villain side for my taste. She's come a long way, and I have actually empathized with her plight at being betrayed and rejected by the Sith through no fault of her own. It will be interesting to see how these similar themes of betrayal and revenge play out with Savage and his brother...

Boba's helmet looked a bit like Rako Hardeen's which looked like one of McQuarrie's version...Just my opinion I didn't get a good glance at it.

As for last night's episode it was nice to see an episode focused on Dooku's revenge and I didn't mind an episode featuring Ventress or Grievous. I thought the army of the undead was meh especially if it ended by one lightsaber strike to a woman powerful enough to raise the dead.
