Look, if someone wants to say that they love the Blu-rays (and even like the latest OT changes)... that's fine. Subjectivity and all that. But if you want to put forth the notion that Lucasfilm really "lavised" time, money and effort on this release then you deserve to be :lol out of the room. They actually sat on their thumbs and dropped many balls here.

Yeah, the bluray.com review is a pretty fair one of the ones I've read and there were some missed opportunities. I mean, there's no reason that Ep I-III shouldn't look anything but reference quality given their young age and amount of CGI, but they DNR'd EpI and II too much. Now I am glad I am waiting. I am glad to hear that the OT looks really good though.

I've seen HD clips from the Blu-rays and know it's confirmed that they did not in fact go back and fix the color correction errors they made in 2004 (even though they claimed at some press events they would). All they did was transfer the latest 1080p cuts to Blu-ray masters. There was no extra effort or money put into this at all. Even the changes in the films themselves weren't really newly done exclusive for this release. They're just things Lucas had tinkered here and there during down times over the past 6 years.

Never said I dug the changes, or even liked 'em, just saying the transfer is incredible, and the look and the sound of the films have improved exponentially.

Bizzaro #1 say Star Wars BluRay am great! Changes good! Watch many times! Worth every square penny!

LOL Sounds about right to me.

Well, yeah... being that this is the first time the films have been (commercially) available on a 1080p HD disc with the ability to display/hear them via HDMI. But no extra money or effort was put into any additional restoration or even to fix the color timing issues they goofed on for the 2004 release (of which the same masters they used here).

Also... they've been showing the movies in HD on TV for a couple of years now.

In other words, yes... they look/sound sharper than the DVD releases. But that's not because of any additional time, money or effort. Trust me. It's only because of the fidelity of the format. A dog with a note in his mouth could have achieved the same results.

A lot of us are actually much more pissed about the lack of effort put into new/correct transfers and sound mixes than we are the silly changes in the movies.

yaaaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnn.......
We know. LFL are going to rerelease them in 3D with new transfers and FX.
Right now can we not just enjoy the fact that we have Star Wars Blu-rays to watch at a very reasonable price. In 1080p?
I certainly haven't seen them on TV in 1080p.

Apparently some of the messed up colors (like Hoth's blue tint) date back to the pre-SE 1995 THX home releases. Which just confirms in my mind that George will never properly restore the originals.

All we can hope for is the original edits and footage. Picture quality and correct colors are even more of a pipe dream on an official LFL release.

Just to confirm, the color for the OT are effed in the A, right? But the prequels look good? I seriously need to know so I can make an informed decision tomorrow at lunch.

Color timing throughout and various lightsabers are still off for the OT. If you get the full saga get it for the same reason I am: the PT, OT slots to hold discs of the original OT, and the deleted scenes.

I know IrishJedi was already watched the middle portion of AOTC 2-3 times now on blu-ray and he hasn't reported any issues with that disc.

Yeah, I am having a tough time making a decision. I have a WTB the bonus discs thread with no bites. I am really just thinking about buying the prequels. The package on the American release aren't put in sleeves are they?
