LOL her Blues Brothers character^ I think that's where she got strung out.
Or it was when she first met and hung out with the cast of SNL (the ep. also featured a Blues Brothers skit.)

It's funny nobody seems to remember the actual original popular geek-dome reference to "Leia in the Gold Bikini" was a reference to the 70s SNL skit.
Later (I think cause of a Friends episode reinforced it) was just assumed it was always a reference to Jabba's palace outfit, which is now erroneously referenced as that.

Gotta love when one of the greatest heroes ever is a mass murderer.
Luke's kill count is very high no matter the source, but given this was an engagement in a hot war, involving a completely weaponized and genocidal military target (the Death Star qualifies as what -- installation, craft, weapon etc. all at once?) I'm not sure it can technically be called 'murder'?

If there were non-combatant personnel staffing that thing rather than say ... droids ... you gotta think that if you're working on something called 'The DEATH Star' you may assume enemy military are gonna have something to say about that.

I don't know how it works, actually. Some people call Luke an 'insurgent' but does that even work when the Rebel Alliance is a multi-planet coalition that's openly declared war on the Empire?

Yeah people are clearly joking, but War was implicitly in the title, and they were full in one from the opening shot.
The "Battle Station" as it was called, equivalent of a war craft, and all who worked on it, had just taken out a whole planet, and indiscriminately its entire population. It's what it was designed to do.
And was in the act of circling around to destroy another, and kill them all. Luke helping to destroy it, and those activley operating it, was not murder. :wink1:

And while we're there:
Han shooting Greedo "first", wasn't murder either, Greedo already had his gun pointed at him first, and made the - Over my dead body - "That's the idea, ...I've been looking forward to this" threat.
Han's next actions was totally in self defense.

And Han even apologized and payed for the mess. :lol

Yes I was joking as I love the first movie and Luke as a character had a great story arc. I do like the ramiifications of war shown in rogue one also to show how war is fought and how the rebels had to use deadly tactics to get to the point of the Death Star attack.

I want the New Hope re-special edition, where the Rebels are analyzing the DS plans, while Dodanna is saying - An analysis of the plans provided by Princess Leia - suddenly a shamelessly cheesy selfie of the R1 crew last taken by K2 and interlaced into the DS schematics, momentarily pops up on screen. :lol
And everyone is like who the-F are those guys?
And Leia is- ahhh, never-mind, lets move on...

Been watching the Icons Unearthed: Star Wars series and have been struck by things I've never realised all these decades:
  • Marcia Lucas' editing gave the OT its heart. Without it, the OT might have been like the PT. (Ergo, if Marcia had still been around the PT might have been more like the OT).
  • While the OT generation was b---ing about the PT, Lucas was successfully locking in the next generation of fans. Mission accomplished!
  • Han was frozen in carbonite because Ford wasn't locked in for the third film. Genius move to put the character in limbo just like the actor!
  • The ANH and Carrie casting occurred together, which is why William Katt was almost Luke.
Unfortunate (but probably understandable) that George wasn't interviewed for the series.
If anyone is interested I’ve randomly discovered this series on the Binge streaming service in Australia. Haven’t had a chance to watch it yet. They also have seasons on The Simpsons, Fast & Furious and MCU.
