Looks like a weequay. Star Wars likes making familial connections so he could be Hondo's ancestor...

Love Asta, but I was wtf am I looking at? That's a picture of a wall, a room? Then he mentions it's the clearest frame of Tak Reynolds :dunno
I'm not well versed in SW outside of the OT. I'm not good at that either.🤣

You didn't watch the episode?

It's a hologram of Tak Rennod sitting in his skull throne, but Disney made sure to obscure his face bar a few clearer frames.

Naw, 90% of the stuff all you folk talk about (especially SW) I've never seen. I don't stream or download. I haven't seen Andor, Mandalorian, Fett books, Acolyte, etc. I enjoy reading your conversations. People's take on things interest me. I wouldn't have said anything If Wor hadn't responded. There is so much SW content that it's initial affect on me has been lost.

Yeah I was like, "Clearest view of Tak Rennod?" Clear to who?? :lol

Asta, I finally saw him in that pic after your subsequent descriptions. And I watched the episode! But then, it's been a bit and I rushed through it between episodes of Silo lol...

I can't believe I actually like this show. I'm not the target audience at all, but it's been fun so far except for episode 4.

While we wait for the new episode, maybe I can try to rank all the Disney shows like everyone else has.

Mando season 1-2

Andor Prison scenes

Skeleton Crew

The Acolyte (was so stupid it needed to be seen to believe it was real. It's so bad it should be studied by future generations.)

Book of Boba Fett/Mando season 3/Obi Wan/Andor non-prison scenes (all of these are just like a flavorless mush that is hard to distinguish)

Dead Last: Ahsoka.

I'd watch The Acolyte again before I could sit through Ahsoka once. The only one I couldn't get through. Just dreadful.

One of Disney's worst tropes reared its head again.

Fern screws up, cause she's just a kid. Kids screw up, it's fine. In a startling moment of maturity and humility and personal growth she starts a heartfelt apology to her friends. Only to be cut off by Wim ignoring all of her near-fatal mistakes and insisting, "No Fern, you're AMAZING!!"

It's the tried and true Mary Sue trait....all characters have to tell them they're amazing and wonderful and perfect all the time. How little self-esteem do these writers have that they insist on constantly writing fictional validation for themselves into everything?

I know it's a very minor gripe, but in an otherwise fun and engaging episode, this stood out like a sore thumb.

Ahsoka > Mandalorian 1 > Mandalorian 2 > Andor > Mandalorian 3 > TBOBF > OWK > Acolyte

Skeleton Crew
is likely to be a high entry as long as it continues the way it's going...

What the hell...?

:horror

I started to find Grogu to be such an annoying character that it's knocked The Mandalorian off the top spot.

Even though I don't like Rosario Dawson's largely smug portrayal of Ahsoka the series as a whole has something. The music is consistently some of the best in any series; Ray Stevenson dominates the screen every time he appears; it brought Thrawn and the Rebels into live action.

Ahsoka is greater than the sum of its parts, but given time it may have as many dud episodes as The Mandalorian, or as many annoyances as Grogu.

Skeleton Crew has a quality that in ways is reminiscent of the early EU, and that's always been a bench mark for Star Wars for me (which is why I hated the prequels so much from the start).

In their defence, Fern had just saved Wim and KB from crabs.

She said she shouldn't have left them, but it was Wim and KB who walked into danger.

With the Onyx Cinder in the grips of the trash mangler I was expecting the 'never touch button' to detach the cockpit/captain's cabin section like a life raft, which was a theory I saw in a video yesterday:

As it turned out it really was a 'sleeper ship' hiding itself under an outer layer of junk, a bit like the Millennium Falcon.

It was a little too convenient, but then that's been a trait with Star Wars since the beginning: convenience and coincidence.

Ok I have to admit this latest episode was really damn good. KB's insecurities over her cybernetics and nearly shutting down had me really feeling for her, and that final 5 minutes with them trying to launch the ship while a giant crusher was chomping on it was some of the most thrilling SW I've seen in a while. And that reveal of the sleeker pirate ship underneath was cool as hell.

Of course Bryce Dallas Howard directed this one so I probably shouldn't be surprised it was good.

Love it, probably my favourite Star Wars Series so far and I'm 40

Never really got the hype with Andor - I think Prison scenes took away from the Space adventure - any prison scene in most series are good. So it feels like a cheat to me

Mando 1+2 was cool but also bloodless in a way...

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Hits A Fantastic Milestone, Becoming The Number One On Disney Plus Worldwide

By Thomas Bacon
Published 2 days ago

According to third-party analytics, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has broken a fantastic milestone - becoming the number one TV show on Disney+ worldwide. 2024 was a rough year for Star Wars, with The Acolyte - intended to serve as a spectacular relaunch for the franchise - instead leaving the fandom divided. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew failed to hit the streaming top 10 in the U.S., leading to some concern the show won't get the renewal it deserves.

The latest third-party analytics from Flix Patrol reveal the show is improving in terms of performance, though. Skeleton Crew is ranked the number 1 Disney+ TV show or movie worldwide for January 2 - and the viewership trend is exciting, because it ranks higher than movies like Deadpool & Wolverine. Even more pleasing, though, is the viewership trend over the last week - as seen on Flix Patrol's metrics.

Star Wars Skeleton Crew Performance

It's worth noting that Skeleton Crew had massive competition from other streamers over this period; Flix Patrol indicates the show ranked #15. Here are the top fifteen on all streamers.

What Does Skeleton Crew's Viewership Mean?

The day after episode 6's release, Skeleton Crew's viewership was higher than - for example - Deadpool & Wolverine on Disney+. Disney gambled by releasing Skeleton Crew over the holiday period, with an episode even dropping on Christmas Eve, but it looks as though that decision may have paid off. The real test will be next week, because it will indicate whether any holiday viewers stuck around. Meanwhile, it will be fascinating to see how the show performs at the weekend.

Flix Patrol's data subtly makes another point that's often not stressed in the online discussion about the show's performance. Most third-party analytics only indicate performance in the United States, but streaming platforms are global, meaning this isn't an accurate representation. Disney will be looking at worldwide performance when reaching decisions about Skeleton Crew season 2.

Is Skeleton Crew Season 2 Really Likely?

Ultimately, decisions will be made in terms of profitability. Skeleton Crew commanded a significant budget, estimated to have cost about $136 million. That's commonly being compared to the likes of The Mandalorian season 1, which had a budget of $120 million back in 2018. But those calculations are typically failing to factor in inflation, which changes costs of the various Star Wars Disney+ TV shows significantly.

ShowReported BudgetAdjusted for inflation
Obi-Wan Kenobi$90 million$104 million
Ahsoka$100 million$108 million
Book of Boba Fett$105 million$122 million
The Mandalorian season 3$120 million$129 million
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew$136 million$140 million
The Mandalorian season 2$120 million$146 million
The Mandalorian season 1$120 million$151 million
The Acolyte$231 million$231 million
Andor season 2$290 million$290 million
Andor season 1$250 million$291 million

Notice that seasons of The Mandalorian are getting progressively cheaper, likely due to the reusing of assets. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew season 2 would likely follow the same trend. All this means a second season shouldn't be ruled out; viewership is heading in the right direction, the show's reputation is solid, and the comparative costs aren't quite so high as many have reported. Only time will tell.
