I mean it could he worst, it could be Attack of the Clones, or The Rise of Skywalker.
We're never going to find out where Lando's girlfriend/daughter is from are we?

Anyone who's read my posts knows I've been all for inclusivity as a matter of course, but lately the hacks at Disney have been writing these scripts with crayons. Buncha pandering, self-righteous clowns.

Why? Sounds like an interesting premise... We've always known that the Jedi were in decadence by the time of the PT, so it's quite interesting to explore the hows and whys of that decadence and what led to it.
She's hiring writers that know literally nothing about Star Wars because she wants a "unique perspective", which I think is a terrible idea. When you have a long running IP like Star Wars you don't generally get good content when you pawn it off to people that have no interest, passion or attachment to the source material.
Clone Wars, Rebels, The Mandalorian, none of these would be as good without Dave or Jon who love the franchise, especially when Dave is basically George Lucas Jr.
Plus she says she's inspired by The Phantom Menace, not really a good movie in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah, this is a legacy IP. You don't take your classic Ferrari to a Honda mechanic.
"Agendas" or lack thereof aside, there seems to be a fair bit of arrogance on display with a lot of these writers (I could be wrong) ... they all want to put their stamp on these huge pop cultural juggernauts and I think maybe Star Wars is the wrong tree to pee on.
But the whole thing has always been uneven and schlocky so if they churn out more crap and pat themselves on the back, it's not all that different from business as usual I suppose.
Outrage culture and Star Wars = peanut butter and jelly.

Well, if you read the actual interview, you'll see that she's not hiring writers who know nothing about Star Wars...
And why and how TPM is her inspiration should really put your mind at ease. It's not like she's saying "oh, I'm really inspired by Jar Jar Binks and Lucas' potty humor"...

From the interview:
"That’s kind of where my ‘Star Wars’ fan brain went was like, ‘How did we get here?’ And why are the Jedi like this? When they are in power, why are they acting this way and how is it that they’re not having the reaction that you would think they would to Anakin’s presence and what Qui-Gon Jinn is saying about how passionately he feels about training him and bringing him into the fold. It’s like, even the discovery of Darth Maul is kind of met with this like, ‘Hm, interesting’ kind of feeling. So I just think for me, my brain has always buzzed around that area and wondered what’s going on here — or what has been going on here.”
Well Ms. Headland, what was going on was a badly written script and actors being given sketchy direction.
Also:
“What I noticed was that most of the scripts, the samples that I really responded to, they were Star Wars fans,” Headland said. “Most of the people that I met with were people that were either really big fans of the franchise, but maybe not as familiar with [‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Clone Wars’ producer Dave] Filoni’s work and ‘Clone Wars’ and hadn’t played the video games. And then there were people, like myself, that have watched all of ‘Clone Wars’ and played ‘Fallen Order’ and played ‘Knights of the Old Republic.’ And I’ve also done a lot of RPGs, including ‘Edge of the Empire.’ So I kind of felt like I was very into ‘Star Wars,’ so I didn’t necessarily look for people who were as into ‘Star Wars’ as I was, as much as I was interested in why people were interested in ‘Star Wars.’ So it wasn’t I sought out people specifically who had not, it was more that I was looking for people who I responded to their work anyway, and then I was like, ‘What’s your way into “Star Wars”? What are the parts of it it that you find the most interesting?’ And everybody had a different answer.”
So far so good. Filoni's overrated anyway.
“You want to have people that respect the source material, who absolutely know what you’re talking about, but at the same time, I think it’s important that you have some voices who are approaching it a little bit more as kind of the way George Lucas approached Episode IV, right? When he wrote ‘A New Hope,’ he was not approaching it, like, ‘Well, in “Star Wars,” there’s this thing.’ He’s talked over and over again about his kind of inspiration for that film being from tone poems or from a school of cinema that was much more about visual representation of feelings. And, of course, the monomyth and not from a place of, ‘I have an encyclopedic knowledge about an IP,’ which I have a pretty decent knowledge of it, I have a lot of people on my staff that do, obviously, there’s people who work at Lucasfilm a that’s their only job. So I felt really well supported in that sense. It was more like, ‘Hi, you don’t know any of this. What do you think about this storyline? What do you think about this character? What do you think about this being a major set piece?’ That was important to me in scouting people out, because I felt properly supported in the other places.”
Actually not seeing a huge problem here. And it seems that it's other people making the big deal about her sexual orientation, not her.
I retract my previous comments regarding her involvement.
I think she's giving the sloppy writing too much credit, but then a lot of fans do.

Its like if they made Dune, and the script was by people who had no idea what the Guild was, or the Bene Gesserit.
