Did you guys see the new Disney XD clips?
Hux looks awesome but the new version of "chewie we're home" looks awful. Like really bad.
First thing I've seen from TFA that I absolutely hate.

I think the PT was a lose-lose situation honestly. Everyone who watched the OT already had a pre-set notion of what they wanted to happen. When it didn't.... the hate started and just spewed from there.
Skipping everything you mentioned.... I bet people would have complained about who is the father then if the prophecy was not explained. Or why he is so powerful. I just think there would be more questioning and hate when you start to redo things and just new things to make people complain about.
I watched Episode 1 first. Then 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Everyone else one here I can guarantee watched them 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3. I never had that pre-set thought of what I wanted to happen. I watched Star Wars from a perspective that I didn't know anything about it. I watched them, liked them, and never really complained about them. I think if everyone had there mind wiped, watched them in the order I did, the PT hate would be not be nearly as bad as it is now.
Edit: Although... I can understand AOTC hate... I think that would still stand
I'm the same way, I never bothered to sit down and watch the old trilogy but I did see bits and pieces of it growing up, but I remember the hype behind episode one and saw it, then episode 2 and 3 always putting the original trilogy behind, then finally decided to watch them about ten years ago and I don't them hate them all, more than anything I love them all the same, but them became obsessed with anything about the empire like palpatine, in all reality I think the whole prequel trilogy is not about Vader but how Palpatine rose from power by being humble and manipulating everyone around him, then I like how the prequel trilogy's quest for democracy is killed when Tarkin goes into the meeting room by telling everyone all traces of the republic have been dissolved and left back to being ran by fear in episode iv.
I can see why older fans that grew up watching the original trilogy feels hate towards the new one because it destroyed their cherished love towards the franchise, but what the force awakens did is finally bring closure to what happens after those days and then be like the James Bond of films where new characters and ships will steal the show.
But I do thank George Lucas for helping make THX what it is today.

GOD this movie is going to kick ass! And i say that after being burned by the prequels. My cautiousness is 99% gone, they did it! Going in they knew they couldn't **** this up and they didn't.
I see no way this is going to be a disappointment at all!
Also i can't say for sure that this is an EP8 spoiler but mark my words and remember it.

Even prequel likers such as myself can admit the PT was weaker than the OT. The new movies have the benefit of learning from that experience.
Though it's still possible VII will be awesome but VIII and IX will suck...
