I'm not sure what to think of that. I'm sure he loved the prequels as well.

Lucas just said last month on the news that he wants nothing to do with Force Awakens, isn't interested in Star Wars anymore and has washed his hands of it. He referred to it as his "estranged ex-wife/ex-girlfriend" and had a great analogy how he wants no part of it.

Now he's giving his opinion on it?

When I saw SW in 77 I was too busy being amazed by EVERYTHING to even notice the racial breakdown, not that I would know anything about diversity at 10.

Yup. Besides, the only black guy in the movie was the coolest character in it, Darth. I really thought that was James Earl Jones in the suit when I was a kid. I was a dumb kid.

besides Billy Dee Williams is way much better than Boyega. I know Boyega is young but I never liked that casting too much. There were better actors they could have chosen. Maybe he does an amazing job on this movie but his other work doesn't really show that

Neither Boyega or Daisy look cool, imo. And those are supposed to be the main characters? Oh well...It's Luke Skywalker all over again, except this time Han Solo isn't as cool as he used to be. I hope old Luke is a badass.

Yeah, Luke Skywalker is the only character in this that I'm looking forward to seeing. The new cast doesn't interest me at all (well, I think Oscar Isaac might be cool), Ford as Han seems old and decrepit, Carrie Fisher is, well . . .

But Luke? Can't wait. I got a good feeling that he'll be the best part, but in the last couple of minutes.

about the racism stuff, you guys know the Boyega figures are not selling at all, right?

Almost all the other figures sold out when they first came out, both online and in stores. even some of the more obscure ones were seling well
but his figures are all peg warmers now, they wouldnt even sell at discounted prices. (even his costume didnt sell EVEN on clearance on halloween)
Boyega was pretty upset about it on twitter

most people say that when the movie comes out everyone will want to buy Finn figures.. which could happen. but still, is everyone racist?
or is Finn a boring looking character played by a mostly unknown actor that no one really cares about?

Yeah, but she's a....girl It's not that I don't like female characters, one of my favorites is the bride from Kill Bill, but growing up in the 80's I liked certain types of super heroes or action heroes, so I tend to prefer male characters. Not just any male character either, they have to be cool...and really good at what they do, which is why I never liked Luke Skywalker in the first two films. Although I'm not a fan of ROTJ, I liked Luke in that film because he finally looked cool, he wasn't a whiny kid, and he was a master/jedi at that point...some how. Daisy isn't the Bride...yet.

I noticed that too recently. Every store I go to...there's fin...with his little gun thing. The Rey figure came with BB8, the staff, a backpack and I don't know what else, but I knew he was going to be a peg warmer when I saw the figure. Was he really upset about it?

I think the reason he's not selling is not necessarily because of his race, but because we just don't know much about him and in all the trailers he just looks scared, even when he was holding the lightsaber...I can't like a guy like that. Is he a future jedi? If he is, then maybe they should let people know, because as far as we know, he might just be a regular normal boring human who accidentally picks up a lightsaber.

It's probably because his first appearance - popping up from the bottom of the screen in the trailer like a cartoon rabbit - robbed him of any future credibility.

Finn looks uninteresting and many people probably don't care as much about him as they do about Rey. Unlike her he can have no connection by birth to the Skywalkers or Solos. That makes him an outsider.

On the other hand, if the token black guy had been Lando...

Yup,

The byproduct of keeping story secrets will be a lack of immediate interest in new characters.

BB8 is the most popular because of the large focus on him, and what a big win for Disney that was.

But I am excited to see the entire package, not just the OT cast.

The battles are half the fun of SW, hence the only good thing memorable from the PT was the Maul battle.

I don't think that one has anything to do with racism, I think he just doesn't make an interesting figure

Look at Lando, now that's a cool looking character.
