Want to know just how important good SW is to people of all walks of life (except the asians)?

"Good" SW movies will still be embraced no matter how many are made.

Good SW is impervious to burn out.

It was crucial for Disney to make TFA look and feel like OT SW and other than that silly cgi monster, those dumb pirates and boring bar aliens the general consensus is that they succeeded in a big way while actually bringing some cool new stuff to the table, like fast moving aggressive storm troopers.

It also helped that the cgi was damn near perfect.

Without wanting to inflame things further, I have to agree with WWE's claims of objectivity, if he truly went in cold to watch I-VI. I guess there would be many like him among the younger generations.

But you don't gross 2 billion dollars from everyone "just going to see it." You get that from fans who see it multiple times. If it was just "Disney Marketing crap" then nobody would have gone the 2nd time... I don't know about you but no matter what the hype is if a movie I see sucks I don't go back and see it again. I will agree that TFA didn't capture the same magic for me as it did in 1977 when I was 7 years old but I'll agree with Darth Snoopy and say when I saw "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." again it gave me a really big smile.

Agreed, DM, especially on the sentence in bold. :hi5:

When the day arrives where the PT are unanimously voted superior to the OT, that's the day I want off this rock. :lol

:rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

Well, ROTS is better than ROTJ. So you can at least browse Amazon for a rocket. :dunno

Although that was pretty funny. :lol

Well, if it makes you feel any better... among the large group of people who don't like the PT are the folks making the new movies. :p

Thank the maker, it does!

The PT serve a critical purpose, they are lessons on WHAT NOT TO DO when making a SW movie! :lol

Everyone that knows me here knows that i'm a champion of guilty pleasure movies, I own many, for christs sake i'm behind one of the worst movies in history, worst than Plan 9 from outer space! :yess:

But I simply can not for the likes of me sit thru the PT. Yet i'll happily watch Transformers! What does that tell you about how I feel about the PT! :lol

They are NOT guilty pleasures, they are torture.

I was firmly convinced in 99/02/05 that GL had NOTHING to do with the OT, that it was all a sham! :lol.

My only regret is that I missed Triumph the insult dog at the AOTC line by only a few hours! :slap

Next Evil will say that Fury Road was better than Road Warrior! :horror :thud:

I can feel more Hnnngggg coming on.

I'm coming Esther!

After watching FR again, and then watching MM2, I think FR is better than MM2, and more entertaining. MM2 feels and looks more real and Gibson IS Max, but MM2 is a bit slow and not much happens until the final chase sequence.

TFA is a lesson that remakes are the way to go!
Few have gone broke by over-estimating the power of being derivative and capitalizing on nostalgia.

But in truth, the best case scenario would have been the creative minds behind Force Awakens taking on a truly original idea. Like, go back in time to the late '90s, use Lucas's loose framework for the prequels, but put together a real quality product instead of what we got. Not all of his ideas are bad. A lot of it is a function of poor execution.

So for all you "remake" lamenters, what exactly is off limits for future SW films? No more ship battles? No more one side attacking the base of the other? No more lightsaber duels? No more family drama? Or they're allowed to do all those things as long as a droid doesn't store precious info in its databanks?

Because I don't want SW to foresake awesome spaceship battles and lightsaber duels anymore than I'd want a new Rocky movie to foresake two guys hitting each other inside a square ring.
