That would be all fine and dandy if . . . we didn't see Chewie exit the stage past Leia like a secondary background character only to have Leia hug and comfort Rey. :lol

Chewbacca and Leia have a history, Han, Chewbacca's friend and Leia's ex-baby daddy, have a common bond. It was a mistake not having them acknowledge each other in that moment, he's right. He ****ed up.

Exactamundo.

Nope, not buying it. Could they have had a moment at some point, possibly off screen prior to Rey and Chewie's departure? Sure. Did it need to happen the second he stepped off the Falcon? No. Leia and Chewie had a prior history, yes, but relationships can change massively over three decades, especially when a divorce or separation occurs and friends have to "choose" one of the spouses. Even when she arrived on Takodana and Chewie hugged her Carrie plays it as kind of her humoring him, she graciously accepts his hug but doesn't put her arms around him and when he steps aside immediately focuses back on Han and the issue of their son.

But that's the thing. She hugs Chewie then at their reunion but not after Han has died? Makes no sense.

JJ did it right. Otherwise Chewy would've mauled Leia for convincing Han to retrieve bratvader in the first place.

Of course it does. She was literally engaged in a conversation with Han and then Chewie walked up and put his arms around her. What was she going to do? Shoo him off? I'm sure if Chewie approached her after Han's death she would have reciprocated like she did earlier but from what we saw he didn't. Probably because he was still in shock too.

That's actually the only reasoning I can come close to accepting in this case. Maybe Leia really wasn't sure of Chewie's mood and thought maybe he really doesn't want a hug right now.

Watch the end of ANH. Leia doesn't always cater to the needs of the supporting cast. It depends on what's going on at the moment. When Luke announces "I've lost R2!" 3PO looks over at her in shock and for some acknowledgement and she ignores him because her mind is on bigger things. Then when the Death Star "is cleared to fire" she condescends to look over at him.

Until we learn more about Rey we don't even know just how big a deal to Leia it was that she was rescued. Is Rey a long lost relative? Is she a personification of all that's left of Han's heroism since he went after her? Who knows at this point.

When Chewie shot Kylo I was like

Yeah, I love it when heroes take the direct approach to offing bad guys. Kind of like Han shooting at Vader in Bespin. Whether it works out or not I like it when the good guys just up and shoot the bad guys, no matter how much of a top billing foe they are. :lol :yess:

Chewie just blowing away trooper after trooper in cold blood was cathartic as well.

I didn't need a hug

You sure? ;)

Guys, Khev spent many hours defending Batman V Superman of all things. He even found a way of justifying the baffling explosion in the Congress. He's not going to relent on an issue coming from his favorite movie of all times, no matter the evidence. Best to just move on.

Actually you know what would be funny is if someone did like they did with Lois kissing Clark but take the scene of Leia and Rey hugging and add extra audio of Chewie wailing off screen while they have their nice moment. :lol
Agreed. Force Awakens should have had a scene like this, but where the flashbacks were all scenes from the prequels:

Yes I was particularly glad that Superman didn't hug anyone there too. :lecture

Oh and one other thing:

I saw this tonight. Overall I enjoyed it quite a bit. Yes, it was incredibly derivative and full of plenty of winks and nods to the original trilogy. But it was still a well told story, with good acting and direction, good drama and action, likable characters, and it seems to be setting up a very interesting story to come. I thought that Finn may be the most relatable character from any Star Wars movie yet.

Not funny in that in all those auditions they still thought he was the best guy for the job. As I rewatched some scenes a couple of days ago, I was struck at how annoying Finn's character is.
