Anything is possible yet we are still using petroleum to produce stuff.
This isn't a perfect world and Ford never was a great actor. He's also old, if you know what I mean...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Ford wasn't very good as Han Solo in ROTJ or as Indy in Crystal Skull. He seemed annoyed and bored while phoning it in.

It wouldn't surprise me if Han Solo is a dry, crotchety old ***** in this one. We ain't never gonna see this again,

They should have killed him off in Jedi. He was great and served his purpose in the first and Empire.

Have you ever seen The Mosquito Coast? Witness? He has it in him to act, and act quite well. Sure he phones it in quite often, but not when anybody would give a damn. I mean, anybody paying to see The Expendables 3 doesnt give a flying **** about acting, at least not in that movie.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Ford was great in more than a few films - Patriot Games comes to mind for me.

Anyway, Master Luke is my new hero of all time.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

JJ will get what he needs out of him.

/Not even worried.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Millions of people WANT to see Han Solo make a come back - & he acknowledges the gravity behind that.

Did the punters honestly give a **** about him making an appearance in Expendables 3?

He obviously didn't either. Gotta keep those bills paid. :huh :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Well I'm sure all of you Ford haters will be relieved once they kill off Han in this film. You know it's gonna happen....

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Design artist Tom Hodges got a look presented on a Storm Trooper from someone who is engaged in the production of Episode VII. Hodges then sketched out how the helmet looks. That picture is now removed from his Instagram, but is obviously still online. Below the helmet.

If Ford wasn't a great actor as Han, Indiana Jones, and Deckard, then I don't know what great acting is in those kinds of roles. He wasn't Lon Cheney, Marlon Brando, or Daniel Day Lewis, but he's on par with nearly anyone else IMO. Having said that, I don't think he always puts in 100%, but he has such natural talent and charisma that it often isn't needed. I saw Ender's Game, which was clearly a phone-in project, and yet he was easily the best thing about the movie.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

He was spot-on in Cowboys and Aliens. That performance is what his Crystal Skull performance should have been.

I'm not worried so long as the character is written properly. I just hope he's not reduced to one-liners and comic relief like he was in ROTJ.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I didn't even think his Crystal Skull performance was bad (or even that the movie itself was as bad as nearly everyone else thinks. . .except for the CG monkeys of course), but YMMV. One possibility here is that he's going to be disappointing in contrast to those classic performances, as was the case with old man Indy, if he does treat this primarily as a cash grab.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Yeah, I didn't think CS was that bad either. I'm one of the very few out there who actually enjoyed it and rank it above LC. But in CS he was continuing the more light version of Indy from LC. In Cowboys and Aliens, I thought he was portraying what an older version of Raiders Indy would be--angry, bitter, intense, gruff.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I liked Harrison in Cowboys and Aliens. The dry, crotchety act worked well in that role. But he's been in that acting mode for years. Last movie I can say I truly enjoyed him in was Air Force One. So I can't help but be a bit cautious. Honestly, I'm more excited about Hamill's return, which I can't believe I'm saying. I've always liked Han over Luke. But you know Hamill is going to attack the role with zeal. I can't wait to see what he does with it.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I can see that as well. I guess it could be because we see the potential for character growth more in Luke's character.
