Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales #1 - Exit from Endor...

Jump to 1:33 as C-3PO begins to tell the story of The Phantom Menace:

(And ten seconds later his audience is asleep!)

I really don't like ROTS. It's like watching a video game, except the acting isn't as good as the acting in video games. The only part I like is when they are building Vader, before he talks.

That's a very narrow field of tolerance for the film and I agree with it. I might add McGregor's acting while giving his final speech at Haydakin as he burns - it might have been very effective had the rest of the film and the rest of the PT done its job.

I'm currently showing my daughter the phantom menace, as she suddenly can't get enough star wars. It's a labor, I won't lie. The acting is so atrocious I don't understand how anybody could complain about the acting in the original trilogy. And then there's Jar Jar, and the less said about that the better.

All in all, my 6 year old is enjoying it.
As she should. After all, that is the intended target audience.

There is no chemistry between any of the actors in the PT cast. Individually several of them are talented in other non-SW roles, but they are wooden as hell in the PT. Ewan McGregor is the notable exception, he does everything he can to add some charisma when everyone else is playing it droll.

I think Lucas wanted it all to come off as somber and dark and doesn't know how to balance the tone. The Empire Strikes Back has plenty of humor and is considered a "dark" film.

TPM also had the most Jar Jar and young Anakin which was just as bad, if not worse, than Hayden. :dunno

I don't mind a bad child actor, but Hayden's wooden acting and one and only facial expression that rivals Ice Cube's constipated look is comical and tough to watch.

I would say the scene where Vader and the Emperor watch the construction of the Death Star was fine, as well as the final scene in tatooine with the the sunset.

Let us hope you all don't whine about TFA as you do the PT.

Nah...what could go wrong with TFA?

JJ isn't working with Orci and Kurtzman, he has a Lawrence Katzman script. That will make a big difference.

Abrams on his worst day still gets better performances from his actors than Lucas in the PT films. For all of the story problems of Into Darkness look at the scenes between Pike and KIrk. Especially the one where Pike finds Kirk in a bar and tells Kirk he asked for him as a First Officer. Find me one scene in the PT films where the actors carry the scene. There's no flying cars zooming in the sky or CG crap. Just a father-son moment with the only "dad" Kirk has ever known.

Ep. 7 won't be Shakespeare. It'll still be the best Star Wars film in 35 years.
