Don’t forget the PT was multiracial AND had women in power.

As did the OT.

Holdo is nothing new.

I would be most grateful however if everyone stopped posting Utube videos to bolster their point of view....most of the videos posted are from people who carry zero weight in the world and no one should be looking to them to support and point of view.

Utube personalities are the soap box preachers of the modern age.....

i personally post them to keep a record though

Don’t forget the PT was multiracial AND had women in power. TLJ is not so groundbreaking.

You’re right, I think that’s the point, the same people who are complaining how TLJ handled it were fine with how it was done before. It’s not about the fact that women or multiracial people are there, it’s just how poorly written it all is, and what the characters are meant to convey. Of course anyone may disagree, but that’s my qualm, and I know it’s true for many others as well. I love leia, and I am old enough to have grown up with the OT, but I still hate the way they’ve done the new movies, outside of rogue one. I even like padme with her flaws, and I like mace windu, Jango Fett, Lando etc.

And you’re right, it’s not groundbreaking, I’m not sure why no one gets that.. Star Wars had one of the most loved female characters of all time, and no one had a problem with her. In that interview with gwendoline christie she honestly believes she’s doing groundbreaking work for Star Wars(“there was nothing like this back in 77”), same for Kelly Tran whatever her third name was.

So maybe we need to try to understand what the difference is this time instead of thinking people are just sexist all of a sudden.

Or maybe they just wanted to share something they found funny.
Nah, you're right and they do need someone else to state what they feel in order to reassure their feelings or whatever you think it is. :lol

Funny I can handle....I don’t find Utuber’s funny....

But look back on this thread....there are lot more comments following these videos that say...

“This guy is totally right....”
“This person gets it”
“I totally agree”

Than
“this is funny”
“Here is an amusing take”

Most of them are posted to bolster a previous statement....

Now let me look up a tube video to agree with that I just said.....

The foremost annoying thing about it all to me is that the producers and makers of these films act like it's groundbreaking, talk about it like it's groundbreaking and fish for applause as if it's groundbreaking. Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton would like to interject with an ''Ahem''. It's the self-congratulation and praise-seeking that I find really shallow and cringeworthy. By all means cast women and 'people of colour' in prominent roles, but I do wish they'd STFU about it in promoting the films..and of course the media could do with shutting up aswell - a lot of it comes from them. If they ask a question it's going to be answered. And then the reactions from the right and even the middle (apparently easily misconstrued as the right) makes the left go up in arms again, it all feeds itself. Just a non-stop cycle. I'm sick of it all to be honest.

A-freaking-men! :clap

As much as I love these new movies I often wish that the filmmakers would just stop talking about them as they often come across as elevating their own films and decisions higher than they actually are. Gareth Edwards really was the best in that regard. All he ever said was that he felt like a kid in a candy store making a SW film and left it at that.

Gareth remains one of my favorite directors out there he truly is one of us but much more intelligent lol

His passions for geek stuff especially SW runs very deep.

I'll only watch it if I find it funny. :lol
Watching the many reviews I've seen lately have also informed me about something that I hadn't thought of before on the subject regardless that they share my opinion. Like why do the Resistance star ships in TLJ loose their momentum as soon as they run out of fuel? Space doesn't work that way. -I didn't catch that before, and they're right. But I don't feel like I need to share those Youtube videos here.

Oh and Screen Rant did a funny pitch meeting review of TFA, a movie that I liked, but I also have to agree with. I only post this because I found it funny:

Yup that’s exactly what I mean, it’s just the *way* that they’re doing it now that is so off putting, especially Gwendoline and Daisy and Kelly and Kathy all having said the same thing at some point.(“No one was doing this back in 77”) Just do it and be done with it, hence why I said it didn’t bother me in RO with its diversity and female lead. But both TFA and TLJ like to toot their own horn way too much, much like FemBusters did. Let it stand on its own and find the merit it deserves. Further I’d say stop going back and interjecting your new beliefs into old hallowed franchises - make something new that people really love even with an all female cast. I’ll support it if it’s good.

And then they won’t face this opposition and this whole cycle won’t play out over and over again.

I hope this means you do understand where some of the hate is coming from then! I know our opinions on the flick are not the same and that’s fine, but there is an issue with the way they’ve been approaching it, and I’m glad you feel it as well. :) (*cough* even tho you rank RO at the bottom...*cough*)

Yep he was too busy determining how many shots from an ion cannon it would take to disable Star Destroyer electronics to worry about what political agenda he wanted to promote, lol. :yess:

Yeah no doubt that is him exactly.

I just rewatched RO with my son that 3rd act remains insanely awesome.

My son is now hooked on Battlefront 2 which btw has a great Poe Xwing ability that is fun to use.

He has requested to watch all the movies from TPM to TLJ so we’re starting that tomorrow he’s hooked on Luke.

I told him young Luke is a little like crows always whining but much more charming. :lol

Then again maybe i’ll just cancel those plans and have Spazz lecture him instead lol

That's what the SJW thing is all about isn't it? Sucking themselves off. And it's not necessarily a left wing ideology. A lot of leftists are critical of this movement.

they tend to become "centrists" when they get tired of all this BS

Your son just got hooked on Luke and now you plan to show him TLJ? That's borderline child abuse.

The grown man in this video literally cries because of what KK & co did to Luke. He's an Iraq war veteran.

He says one of the things that helped him decide not to kill himself was that he looked forward to seeing Luke in TLJ.
