Yep you've got Top Tier perfection in ESB/SW/RO and then the "awesome but not perfect" grouping of TLJ/TFA/ROTJ. You and I both said before TLJ that if it sucked that we'd always have the OT and RO but that if Luke was awesome we wouldn't care about Rose and Porgs or whatever. And at the end of the day Rose and the Porgs weren't even bad.

Sweet sig, btw! :rock

Yup that was our agreement going in and we lucked out simple as that. I’m really looking forward to revisiting TLJ.

I better stop at a cardiologist and pick up nitroglycerin for DiFabio :lol

I stole someones posted photo in the SW toy section hope they don’t mind that i’m using it for my sig now it’s gorgeous lol

I'm starting to believe that Jye & Khev are indeed the same person. It's as if sometimes they are the only 2 people in the room having a private conversation amongst themselves.. :lol

You guys need to share digits with each other and become real flesh and blood friends and stop all this internet back and forth stuff. You can then see TLJ together while sharing a popcorn and soda while holding hands.. :)

You know what it is.

I’m just exhausted from being angry, cynical, offended and disgruntled.

I just want to relax now and enjoy my favorite movie series with like minded positive and enthusiastic individuals that’s all nothing really complicated.

I am very forgiving when it comes to SW because if I wasn’t I wouldn’t own the PT like I do lol.

Khev fits that bill perfectly.

Sure I wish it could be with others as well it doesn’t just have to be Khev and maybe with Solo it will be that way but for now it’s me, Khev vs all you sour ****ers lol

Except I think that BR 2049 might very well be the greatest sci-fi film in 30 years and he doesn't even know what it's called, lol.

:lol :lol

Those 15 Youtube shorts messed me up lol

I can’t believe jye likes this but not revenge of the sith.

Hmmm

I actually love some parts of ROTS and I started liking it more than TPM BUT i’ve come back around to thinking TPM is indeed the better of the 2.

Of course they did because all those movies you mentioned were not as good as what had come before it in their respective series.

Since TLJ is better than TFA why would it cause any damage, the movie improved upon its predecessor.

Just ignore Wor-Gar he’s a Tarkin whore.

excuse me?

that comment is just.... jesus christ i hope this is a troll comment jye

And pretty much every movie he listed prompted an immediate reboot of the entire franchise, lol. And of course SW wasn't rebooted after AOTC because George didn't care and was writing the checks himself.

not all of them rebooted their franchises

origins wolverine didnt reboot

matrix reloaded didnt reboot

x files sequel didnt reboot it (the show went on with the new seasons)

alien 3 was a failure and didnt rebboot the franchise

the lost world was seen as a bad movie and they still made jurassic park 3

just because episode 9 is coming it doesn't mean this movie didn't do artistic damage and legacy damage

I wish I could feel the same way as you. I've learned to enjoy the PT movies. I never "hated" them, but after watching all the SW movies with my son in sequence many years ago, I saw them in a different light. My son grew up on the Clone Wars cartoon. He actually prefers the OT over the PT on his own, but he absolutely loves Captain Rex, Commander Cody, the clones, the Battle Droids, General Grievous, and many many other characters. We both walked out of TLJ confused. I let him speak 1st so as my wife couldn't say I used the Jedi Mind trick on him to make him think he didn't like it. He did that all on his own. If this was EP9 and the end of the trilogy I could've perhaps been more forgiving. But knowing I'm expected to watch a continuation from this, I've lost all interest. And that makes me sad. I have been a fan for 40 years and have looked forward to every movie and cartoon series.... Not anymore :(

I'm sure they were self-aware when shooting the Chewie/Leia hug in TLJ. But it 1. gave fans what they wanted in the previous film and 2. fit with the current story so I fail to see how it was "wrong" to include in movie.

It's another one of those meta moments like the Snoke/Ren scene. The Finn/Phasma fight was similar in that regard--so many comments from TFA, "Why didn't Finn fight Phasma instead of the Riot Trooper," and it even had that same riot trooper weapon. All three of those moments felt like reactionary fan service.

I’m sorry to hear that.

My son liked it but he also likes the PT lol

:lol :lol

Just messing with you.

Man i’m so not needed Khev just pwning TLJ hate debunking on his own.

I don’t see any damage caused to SW post TLJ either because the ones claiming said damages are salivating in the Solo thread waiting for a trailer lol.

Yeah some damage. :lol
Oh, Episode 9 will do fine. By the time it releases, half of the complaints will have died down and a majority of the hatred-fueled fanbase will have gotten over it just enough to give Star Wars “one more chance.” :lol

It’s the toys, and possibly other merchandise, that’s in a ****heap. Hasbro has really dropped the ball, where quality is concerned. And yet, they keep raising prices. Fans see this.

Furthermore, kids don’t feel the need to get every single character from the films, so they only get the cool ones. Also, a lot of the figures are just new molds of virtually the same characters from two years ago. Collectors won’t even bother at that point.

I know that collectors are often against aesthetic changes with the sole intention of pushing toys, but that has always been a staple of Star Wars. I’m not sure why they stopped now. Most of the troopers continue to sell, with the exception of that lame Executioner.

Yep, you said it. Life is too short to nitpick great entertainment to death. And there are just too many good movies to gush over rather than camp out whining about the films that disappointed me (like GotG 2 and Skull Island.)

I'm fine with meta moments as long as they are incorporated organically. I thought Kylo's whole tirades about killing the past and DJ's flippant comments about the endless cycle of the good and bad guys blowing themselves up over and over were pretty meta as well, but the additional layers actually enhanced the narrative for me. Now if Leia ran up to Chewie and said "Come here and give me a hug you big lug just like we did moments after I got done hugging Rey at the end of TFA" I'd say "oh come on that's BS" but having them embrace after being separated the whole movie was fine for me.

I know.

I wonder if everyone else knows we're all just playing war here for fun... and afterwards we're all going out for falafel.

All you have to do is just say you caught another viewing of RO and TLJ talk will grind to a halt as we stop to praise that film all over again, lol.

I did watch parts of it last night -- :) -- some of the behind the scenes stuff I'd never seen. Was looking for more on the Death troopers but never could find much.

I want you to stake your personal reputation that Episode 9 will do fine and not be affected by the backlash Episode 8 is getting.

thats really the end of this whole thing, thats really the core, right?

the disappointment of years of following this saga and of being fans, the let down. i too wish i loved this, i too wish it was awesome.

i came out of force awakens hopeful for the future of the franchise, i was actually hyped about what they did. i knew it was a little close to a new hope but i was excited about what they did for the sequel

at the end of the day this movie will always just be a disappointment. a lost opportunity.

we might joke and go back and forth and jye and khev might insult us on and off..... but this post really is the sad reality of the subject. the real point.

for thousands of us it is not hate or anger, the reality, the truth is just the awful disappointment that we feel and will always feel. it feels crushing to wait two years to be disappointed this badly.

it feels crushing to wait two years to be disappointed this badly.

Oh please, start watching this video at 9:30 to hear Peter Serafinowicz (the voice of Darth Maul) perfectly capture the disappointment we all felt after waiting 16 years for a new SW movie and getting The Phantom Menace:

Never forget...

I didn't like TLJ and I believe I was the very first one to report such -- the first "hater" so to speak -- but it hasn't made me hate Star Wars in general or swear off seeing any more Star Wars movies.

Now if I get two or three more like TLJ then, yeah, I'll be done... but I'm looking forward to Solo (with hope). As I've said, I'm actually more interested now in the one-offs... as I have no real interest in Episode 9 other than just 'finishing the book'.

I know.

Kids don’t like Falafel...

;)

The film can do fine while still being “affected” by the backlash. Will it be anywhere near as bad as people are making it out to be? No.

So no, that’s pointless. Besides that, what reputation? :lol
