She kept Luke's saber as bait hoping he'd come looking for it. Then when Han catches it in her possession and is all "why do you have THIS??" she goes "uh, heh heh, story for another time, let's move on." Dude, I think you're 100% right. She was Good Cop Sith to Snoke's Bad Cop. Somebody's going to get captured in TLJ and then the door is going to open and...in walks Maz. What other purpose does she serve? She's not going to be the Yoda/Mentor character, that's Luke. She's got to be a surprise villain. Holy crap. I'm going to be so disappointed if she isn't now.
