According to the Wall Street Journal, Disney will receive around 65 percent of the revenue generated from ticket sales for Last Jedi from most locations, compared to the typical 55%. Additionally, the Mouse House is requiring all theaters to show Episode VIII in their biggest auditorium for a period of at least four weeks. Theaters also cannot pull a single Star Wars 8 screening from their schedule unless Disney gives them permission. If an exhibitor does not comply, Disney can take an extra 5 percent of sales, raising their haul to a whopping 70 percent.

Heard this today on the news while driving. Disney really wants to squeeze every nickel out of this and fast. Indicates to me that the movie isn't very good.

That said...

I remember when Empire hit theaters in 1980 ticket prices went from $2.50 to $3.50 here in Los Angeles.

Star Wars always commands you pay to play.

Next thing you know, staff will be dressed as Stormtroopers at showings, and after the film ends they padlock the doors and order everyone to buy another ticket for the next showing to maximize takings. And if you can't pay they just take your clothes and jewellery. :lol

$3 billion BO guaranteed with this method. :lecture

Tells me they think it will stall out at the box office after 3-4 weeks and won't keep going and going like TFA did...

Young fools, all a misdirection.

Only on 12/14 will you understand.

In the article he even admits:

“I’m such a fraud”

Yeah i’m joking who really knows.

Either way he even admits himself that:

“No one wants to see the 50-, 60-, 70-year-old versions of us, running around, bumping heads on the Death Star,” he said. “It’s sad.”

The guy is notorious for conflicting messages and also hating spoilers.

Wow- he must not be very satisfied on Luke's role in TLJ....hmmmm

So Driver calls Rey a "Princess" in the GQ interview.

This adds to the The Prince Vlad Snoke theory. I'm thinking Snoke and Original Rey married in secret. When the Order kills her, it's much worse than if they were just lovers. They killed his wife so he came back in Braveheart mode and waged war on the Jedi.

Does that mean he brought her back to life with midichlorians, a la Darth Plagueis?

Yeah I can accept the fact that he is miserable and regrets coming back. I hope that’s not the case though and TLJ does Luke justice.

I’m still of the mind that believes his TFA cameo was epic and only made Luke even MORE loved and wanted.

That’s all everyone talks about now, Luke’s journey and how Rey and Kylo are connected to the force.

Who knows maybe when he says that he was “insulted” he could really be referring to his salary compared to Ford’s.

Hamill is probably thrilled that Blade Runner flopped lol.

This is to everyone who still cannot believe how Disney is really evil, stuff like this makes me stick to them but at the same time we cannot win against them. But they blame box office sales being down. Screw these guys.

“Be careful not to choke on your aspirations Mickey” bwhahaha

I think, like most Hollywood actors past their prime , that he feels like he got another raw deal.

He talked extensively when I met him , about how little cash he made on SW. He felt he was basically swindled out of the big bucks from merchandising....which he WAS of course, by old man Lucas.

I think he feels the same now. They are using the fans love for him as a draw for the new films....and his role is minimal , likely non heroic, and not hugely important to the new story. I am sure he jumped at the chance to cash in on the new franchise thou, and now again....feeling like he got a bad deal seeing the amount of cash being generated by the new series of films....
Especially if his role is diminished.....

Yeah god forbid Disney wanting to make a profit.

Is what they’re doing illegal?

Nope.

Do their employees count on a paycheck every week?

Yup

Considering I got screwed out of seeing War for Planet of the Apes ok IMAX for this exact reason, I doubt its a Disney only deal....

They expect shows to begin as promised and end on time. If your showing has a power outage ...tough....next show has to start on time...

I overhead Disney employees talk amongst themselves while no one was around but i snuck to get my strollers on how Disney is a great company to work but terrible employers. I laughed and they shook their head in sorrow, I felt bad lolol
