Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

This is intended to be a spoiler thread. Why are people who saw it reluctant to post any spoilers? :lol

You know, the good stuff. Does Luke turn to the DS?

For a moment, then back again.

Does Rey join with Kylo?

Yes, for a moment, then back again.

Does Kylo turn to the LS?

For a moment you think so, but no.

Does Finn start down the path of becoming a Jedi?

No. He remains pointless.

So tempted to browse this thread...

There's no way it can be as bad as PT though.

Luke's got an applause from the whole audience in my theater.
Lotsa cool fight scenes, and unpredictable twists.
It's just.. wow.
So many heroes here.. worthy sacrifices.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

I gotta ask: What happens with Leia? Is there any hint how they'll handle her not being in the next one?

I wondered the same about what they’ll do with Leia for the next movie after reading the spoilers about Luke and that surprised me!

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Is it true that Rey discovers a HT Rey doll hidden under Luke's bed?

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

When George planned nine movies it was a time of great anticipation.

Years pass and we get the Prequels. George had forgotten what made the first three work.

More years pass and we get the Sequels. Disney cast out volumes of well written novels.

How long will we have to wait until we discover that Artoo's memory had been corrupted by dark forces, and this was all nothing more than the Sith version of the an April Fool?

lol... TLJ wasn't horrible but it I didn't think it was that good either. Better than TFA but it was no ESB. I honestly don't know why it is so hard to do a proper SW film with such an established history and awesome OT characters. Luke was underused once again and the Rey/Kylo thing was so lame imo.

Disney wrote themselves into a corner. They threw out the future that had already been written so they could create new mysteries and surprises. But having thrown out all that work that fit seamlessly into the style and feeling of the OT, they ended up making something that's essentially meaningless. The difference left me feeling...indifferent.

Doubt I'll ever feel that the ST is canon. It's more an exercise in getting out three films to create a blank canvas for further indifferent films.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Let's just be honest and say it how it is, in that anything outside of the OT isn't canon because the OT is what many of us grew up with, so it's got that nostalgia factor. :lol

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

I still do not understand but why would you guys still expect Disney Sequel to be part of the OT ? They're clearly want to get rid of Lucas legacy and replace it with completely new story, new characters and new universe..their own ideas to their new target audience. Those red shrimp guards, golden bathrobe evil guy, the porgs... dont you see what they're trying to do ?

Prequels diffrent you guys hated it and bashed George.
Sequesl not feel same like OT and you guys still hate it

I dont know but i think now it is the right time to move on.. SW universe not just running around the old OT. Like it or not but these are the directions for future SW movies.

So I have to ask..Is Luke naughty or nice with Rey and the Force :lol

LOL.. no, he's not. He is shady though.

Never thought I'd be so hype for a star wars movie.

Believe me..
This will not be like TFA where almost everything is predictable..
This one is a roller coaster.
But the characters gave us wonderful performances for their role..
It's like.. combining Rogue One (especially the martyrdom) and Star Wars original trilogy.

You will feel it when you see it. :)

Don't forget about TFA being hated for being too much like ANH/the OT.

Like I say: nobody hates SW more than die hard fans of SW.

Damn. Amen to that last line.

But if we're comparing, which we are, of course nothing will be above OT, but the Sequels even for what they lack, are still way better than whatever the **** the Prequels were. I was super engaged beginning to end of both TFA and TLJ. I enjoyed TLJ way more, but I was super engaged. Prequels is a snooze fest. I can't even get into them. And I've tried rewatching them.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

I saw it today... The thing that stuck out to me most is how much I miss the old 'Star Wars language,' so to speak.

There was a certain way they talked and the way the sentences were structured that was purely Star Wars, even if sometimes it could get a bit hammy. It could be stilted at times but it was also uniquely timeless. TFA moved away from that a bit but I could still feel it within the same universe as much as I dislike that movie. Though I liked this better I feel it completely steered away from that timelessness. It's like it was written in our own present with our vernacular and style of joking etc, I didn't like it now, and in few years it's the first Star Wars movie that's going to seem 'dated.'

It's weird but out of everything I just couldn't immerse myself in the world because of the change in language.
