Episode VIIII prediction: as both TFA and TLJ rely heavily on the OT the final film will be about Ben’s redemption ala Anakin. As the story goes it’ll tie together PT, OT and ST. Hux will clone Snoke the two of them will turn against Kylo while Rey and Luke’s force ghost will team up with him to end the First Order. Rey and Ben get together have a family and in a few yrs Episode X happens.

Mark it on your calendars SW fans.....

Whose ready for Solo.....

Cool. I like Kylo and Rey together. And Hux had that foreshadowing thing re Kylo. What happens to Finn and Poe? I'm gonna guess one of them buys the farm...probably Poe, after getting inspired re self-sacrifice.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

That’s the short and sweet of it. This isn’t fanboy bitching. This is fans of good Star Wars films disliking a BAD Star Wars film, period.

So bitching about what they feel is a bad SW film then. :lol

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

John Boyega should sue Rian Johnson for some form of character defamation...

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Would the x wing not still be able to fly though?

Just wouldn't be able to lock into attack position.

?

The idea is yeah, it wouldn't fly. He was taking it apart and using the parts for things he needed to survive on Ach-To. And his X-Wing has been underwater for 6 years. No engine would start after that much water intrusion. His only way off was the falcon.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

For those wishing Luke showed up in his X-Wing to Crait, I found the reason why he couldn't. I was thumbing through the visual dictionary, and it talks about Luke's hut. It turns out the door Chewbacca kicks open is made from one of the wings of his X-wing. Luke intentionally destroys his X-Wing because he has no intention of ever leaving. So when Rey and Chewie leave in the falcon, Luke is stranded. The only thing he CAN do is project himself to Crait in order to give the resistance time to escape, even if he knows the strain will kill him. It's a beautiful, heroic sacrifice that means SO MUCH more when you realize he couldn't just leave. The most tragic part about it is if he regained his faith in Rey and the Force earlier, then he could've done more. This is why Luke is crying at the end before he goes. It's incredibly sad and poignant.

I didn't realize that when I watched and was disappointed when he wasn't actually there. But now, I get it. They should've made it more obvious, but the clues are there. I hope people can change their minds a bit after knowing that.

He could of used the Force and still flew in the X-wing anyway? Why not? We have floating Space Leia, don't we!

The very best of the OT has flaws in regards to pacing, line delivery, continuity, script etc. but what saves them (besides nostalgia for the past - LOL) is a leaner, more focused narrative and consistent stylistic choices and visual texture.

I don't judge the new Star Wars films against serious cinema, but I do judge them on elements of design, writing and acting, amongst other things.

Not like it wasn't fun, though. Kinda like a questionable hook-up while drunk. :lol

Like hiding in swamp or an island? :lol

Yes, in Luke’s case, as their motivations were different, but I’m sure you understand that.

After reading through the gripes I think the dislike can be boiled down into two main issues.
1) It wasn’t what many were expecting and had imagined in their heads often for years.
2) Many failed to understand the themes and what they saw. No problem there as failure is a virtue and you can always unlearn what you have learned. ;)

Also there’s this weird alt-right backlash that views the film as anti-conservative Social Justice Wars and well, there may be no hope for that crowd. :lol

Everyone remember the story circulating that Disney was requiring theaters to show the movie in X amount of theaters for X amount of time, or they'd get penalized with Disney taking higher profits? Wonder why they all of a sudden did that?

Hmm..... "Turd we have in this movie" ......

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

That just means it's been brigaded by people who thought Luke Skywalker should've been exactly the same as he was 30 years ago, because as we all know, people don't change.

I don't know why people keep saying this, and I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan. I remember in the prerelease hype so many people were wondering (and excited for) Luke possibly going full on darkside even. It's just the execution and plotting was so poor, that people are reacting to it. I mean maybe even seeing some kind of vision of what Ben may actually do in the future could have helped sell this moment, one of those 'would you kill hitler as a baby if you knew?' scenarios. But there was nothing to go off of so it just seemed completely wrong. But now people forget and say it's just cause crying fanboys wanted good Luke. Even Hamill isn't happy with it, and earlier he said beng evil is a way he'd love to take Luke. It's not about him not being what people want but about it being handled so poorly.

And that's without the other flaws, no backstory, pointless story threads, marvel humor etc

I agree on all points here.

Nothing will beat the OT for me exactly because of that: nostalgia. So I don't compare anything SW to them. I'll probably enjoy it simply because I enjoy SW in general and I do consider myself pretty open minded, but I already disagree with the decision of killing Luke off in this film.

I enjoyed TFA myself while a lot of people eviscerated that one as well.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Had Luke turned up in person and died leattimg the rebels escape it would have had class instead both he and Han have sacrificed themselves in really static ways that were pointless or obvious.

What's even worse is folks ranking the prequels and sequels higher than them..No new SW movie of any kind beats the Original trilogy and yes that includes ROTJ too!

I don't really think a father sacrificing himself to at least try and get his son back is exactly pointless. That's just me though.

I didn't really care for TPM and AotC outside of a few characters and moments, as I thought they were both largely boring films. However, I do accept them as being what happened prior to the OT, like them or not.

However, RotS I did enjoy.

Just look at Hux’s treatment by Kylo it didn’t improve after Snoke died with him getting slammed by Kylo that tells me Hux will jump ship to the resistance.

What about it? He’s built like a Marine, which he is

Even if we look beyond our own expectations, as a movie, as a story, this thing is mess with so many plot holes, and the only reason people are ignoring it, it's because their fandom, but don't worry, because I will be posting all the problems soon. :)

I do admit that I wanted a different Luke Skywalker...but that's neither her or there.
