I still don't get why only Yoda would talk to Luke, not to mention being able to make lightning strike a tree or hit Luke in the head with his cane. Wait a second, why the **** does Yoda need a cane as a force ghost?

Did Kylo Ren just stop praying to Darth Vader or whatever the **** he was doing in TFA with that melted Vader mask? Does he even want to be like Vader anymore? What is his motivation? A couple of days before TLJ, he wanted to be like granddaddy Vader, now he's all like "let the past die, the Jedi, Sith, rebels and empire are stupid, I don't like my helmet anymore". Why did he kill Han again? Wait, why didn't he kill Leia? Wait, why did he kill Snoke? Does he want to be a good guy or a bad guy? Did he just want an apology from uncle Luke or did he want to be like Vader?

Regarding comparisons with tfa and ro, you also should factor in diminishing returns.

Not sure about the Thor comment above. Seems like that generally exceeded expectations.

I still think Yoda didn’t trust Luke. He had no faith in Luke, always criticizing Luke and warning him even after his ghost. Remember Yoda was convinced there was another for the new hope.

Well the one thing that worked IMO with Luke dying, is they can pretty much start fresh for EP IX with Rey and the new breed, and with that they can give Kylo any direction they want..making him the ultimate evil if they choose too.

So will he be the reverse arc? Vader went softer with each movie while Kylo will grow in his evil?

If Luke was able to go matrix as a projection and Yoda can conjure lightning ..I wonder what old Obi Wan was capable of doing as a force ghost ..how about Old Anakin or Young Anakin

I'm guessing they all have the same abilities. I also think they should be naked like Dr. Manhattan. When Ben, Luke, and Yoda died, they left their robes behind.

Except Kylo killed the one guy more knowledgeable and darker than him. Not a great start to becoming the ultimate evil.
The reason the rule of two worked for the Sith, is that the apprentice killing the master happened when the master had nothing left to teach the apprentice.
Did it look like Snoke had nothing left to teach Kylo by the way he made Force lightning bounce off the floor into his dumb face?
And yes, I realize they weren't Sith, but the same logic applies.

I have heard that argument of the blank canvas a lot regarding TLJ. Thing is, the blank canvas should have been kept for IX.
Which is why, for a lot of people, TLJ felt like it had many elements that belonged in the last episode of the trilogy and not the middle one.

I heard Episode 9 will open in the Ghost World where Luke is in council with Ben, Yoda, Anakin and Qui-Gon, all discussing how to bend Rey to the will of the Light. Yoda raises a stick of butter but Ben quickly takes it away from him, saying not like that.

First he mocks and belittles kid Anakin for loving and missing his mom.

Tells Anakin that he should rejoice when those around him die.

He plays little mind games with Luke, even in the end of his life (he could have just told Luke Vader was his father and Leia was his sister instead of drawing it out to his dying breath and pretending to sleep).

Then he drives Luke to eventual suicide.

No doubt in my mind that Yoda's "no, there is another" most likely refers to Rey, 30+ years before she was even born.

Anakin and Luke didn't mean **** to him.
