Yeah but I'll be playing it before you are with early access.

While I agree that there is no sense preordering a game when you can just walk in on release day and get it without having to pay shipping or whatnot but most places offer preorder incentives which are cool.

Shipping is usually less than the cost of tax

And if you like something, might as well preorder it. For a regular edition, there's not much of a point. But for collector's edition, especially with something like this which will be mostly sold online, it's worth preordering. I also think I heard somewhere that the collector's edition will be pretty limited. Origin is already sold out.

BTW Guys, the Collector's Edition is very limited in supply, it's already sold out at Origin and Amazon.com

Also it's a limited launch. So if you go into buy the game on release day you might not be playing at all. They want low server stress for a smooth launch.

If you dont already know there will be no open beta at all it will be kept closed but invites for a stress test etc will start in September.

I'm not going to to the beta weekends, i don't want to spoil any of the story.

I'll do some testing as that's what ive been doing since the very late 90's. Besides there's plenty of classes so i'd play 1 i doubt i will ever play when it goes live.

Well I'm hoping that they will allow you to continue a character you start in beta to the full game. Otherwise I guess I'll just mess around and then start my real character when the game comes out.

There's always a full wipe while they set up the server for live which normally takes them a few days.

Not always. When LOTRO started if you were in the closed beta and bought the game you could continue your character.
