done a little more reading, and I've just decided, that like Devils due publishing GI Joe, this game falls firmly into the category of Fan fiction.

Adding Chiss as allies of the sith, AND KEEPING THEM THERE after the attack on coruscaunt makes no sense.

Adding Dranei from WoW is weird too. Pretending they're a race that is long extinct by this point is even sillier

Naming Korriban ( the sith TOMB WORLD) the origin planet is an irritating mistake as well. For the record, I'm pretty sure it's Ziost.

I can't take it seriously any longer.

It still looks fun, I'll still play it, I just wish they would have done their homework better than a google image search.

Edit: a friend of mine likened it to the Michael bay transformers movie. Pretty, and fun, but ignoring the established continuity in favor of making a quick buck. He also said ( and i chuckled) "If they wanted to make a clone wars game, why didn't they?"

I'm not sure I see the problems, the Chiss were allies of the Sith and Korriban has always been the homeworld of the Sith species, unless you mean something else.

Neither do i. And Korriban has always had sith tombs in the books i read.

Korriban is an "origin world" IN THE GAME you start on when you chose to play Sith.

Like how when you choose to play Jedi you start on Tython.

DOH on Korriban, I seem to have mis-read some lore. Ziost was one of those worlds, but not the original. My bad on that.

As for the chiss being allies of the sith.....

The ascendancy has VERY strict rules about engagement with an enemy. Violating this rule is what got thrawn kicked out....
This rule is that the Chiss are completely reactionary. they will NEVER initiate a fight with someone who is not a direct threat to the ascendancy. In addition, this "direct threat" needs to make the first move.

Why on earth would someone with a cultural rule like that become an ally of the sith? as for them having ALWAYS been allies with the sith, and the empire, can i get a source OTHER than Wookipedia, which i do believe was added when they released the race info for this game?
Thrawn was an ally of palpatine After outbound flight, Which he destroyed for palpatine, as palpatine was concerned with outbound flight alerting the Yuzong Vong to the existence of the republic before he was ready to take them on. And informed thrawn that the Yong would come through Chiss Space FIRST to get to the republic.

Not to mention that, unless I am mistaken, Outbound flight ( read the novel if you haven't) was the first encounter the republic had with the chiss, and the Chiss had never heard of the republic, or the jedi, let alone the sith.

short version, they shoehorned the chiss into this game because of thrawn's popularity, and said " LOL they've always been friends of the sith" No.. they've not . That's fanfiction they added for this game.
Much like Prince xixor's personal fighter showing up in KOTOR 2 as a basalisk. it was added because it's popular.

Yes, I mad. The chiss are one of my favorite things in the EU. They're a fascinating culture, and I love thatr they added them to the game, i just hate how they did it.

The chiss should either be
a) a third, neutral faction.
B) a splinter group of the chiss, not associated with the ascendancy.

Bah. I'm starting to go 10/10 on nerdrage. Tell me you at least see where I'm coming from?

I've never been a fan of the Vong so I never read any of the NJO books so I don't know much about them but I thought the Vong had at least been aware of the Republic for awhile. In KOTOR Canderous mentions during the Mandalorian Wars he encountered an asteroid ship and chased it to the edge of the galaxy. I know it never specifically stated it was a Vong ship but it sure sounded like that's what the creators intended for it to be.

As for the Chiss, I too was under the impression that the Outbound Flight was the Republic's first contact with them (I've yet to read Outbound though, just going buy what my friend told me about it). So it's as you said, it seems like pure fan fiction on TOR's part.

I'm pretty sure they knew about the Republic for a long time--the Chiss had first encountered the Vong and then Vergere probably told them some stuff when she joined the Vong, which was just around the time Palpatine became Chancellor.

which they? you mean the Vong? Be that as it may, If i remember correctly, Palpatine had no knowledge of where vergere went after Zonama Sekot,. the events of vergere running take place right before rogue planet, which is the book right before outbound flight. Obi-wan and Anakin Arrive on Zonama Sekot, right after Vergere has already left. so more or less, all this takes place within a (relatively) short span of time.
If memory servers, the report of the Far outsiders that Obi-wan and anakin give are what pushes Palpatine to decide to have outbound flight destroyed. In hopes of Delaying the Vong.

Regardless of what the vong do or do not already know ,that is the explanation that Darth Sidius gives to Thrawn to get him to destroy outbound Flight.
