Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

Has anyone received the lightsabers ? Really curious how they are in hand ie metal or not.

Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

Harrods had a Star Wars gallery event running for the last few months where these items were displayed and available for sale. I went along and was able to meet the lead designer (who was late to the appointment as he'd had to come straight from the Ep. VIII set).

The props feel solid and are, as explained to me, "set usable" (although obviously not actually set used) as they're made from the same files as the on-set versions, by the same people.

As I ordered quite a bit of stuff, I was invited to visit the team at Pinewood. I'm under NDA, so can't discuss any non-revealed stuff I saw, but I got to see how complex these items are - there are details on the items that will likely never be seen on screen. The amount of effort that goes into the production of these pieces is phenomenal :)

Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

I went to order the Bowcaster thinking $2500.00 is steep for this but it's my favorite Star Wars Weapon and none of the other prop companies ever made it before so Fine, let's do this.
I go to check out. I am in the US. There is Tax on this? How can there be Tax on this unless this company is in the same state as me? Ok? They must be made in my state? So, shipping should be cheap at least then? Nope. Shipping was near $600.00?? For a ten pound item sent by UPS?? Where is this coming from then that I have to pay Tax and a $600.00 Shipping Fee too?? This site is Unreal on how badly they wanna gouge you. I said forget it. Another Grand for additional Fees too?? Crazy.

Sorry man. You are feeling exactly like most international customers feel when they order from companies like EFX and have to pay huge shipping fees, VAT and customs.

Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

Sure, but I think the real issue is that he's in the same country these are being sold from. This was the first thing I noticed when these were announced. It's ridiculous.

Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

I am truly amazed there is a decent sized market for these.

I get they are the "real deal works of art" but the prices when everything is said and done are for those in an entirely different tax bracket than me and the other 99% : )

Not quite. I think they are made in UK, not US. And this leads to international shipping and taxes problem.

correct...PropShop is located at Pinewood Studios, which is why the shipping and taxes are so high.

Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

I order statues from all over the world frequently. Mostly from the Asian Countries for XM, Imagnarium, Prime 1 and Iron Studios. Weta in New Zealand. Popcultcha in Australia. But I do order the Doctor Who stuff from Big Chief Studios in the UK and I have Never been charged Tax from another Country before. Ever. I was always told that one of the perks about collecting in the US is that you didn't ever have to pay Custom's Fees. So, I have no idea why they are charging Tax Fees in the US when no one else that I ever dealt with did?

Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

Yeah I have sold a few times to US residents and they always told me not to worry about customs and never asked for a lower declared value.

Not sure what's going on with these.

Taxes are more typically something you need to worry about when located in Europe and ordering from a US seller/shop. I have to go to great lengths each year with all the used pro audio gear I buy overseas to avoid paying taxes that would make it actually more expensive than buying it in France. Taxes are 25% nowadays (on both declared value and shipping costs).

Also the shipping costs charged by Propshop are way out of hand. Never once in my life have I paid such shipping costs when ordering stuff coming from other countries and this includes guitars and amps which are WAY heavier and bigger than their props/wooden crates.

Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

It might be because it is a US company that makes stuff in UK and thus you need to pay all these taxes.
You could ask PropShop.

Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

Can anyone confirm if it really takes 16 weeks to receive one of these items after ordering it?

Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

I've written twice asking about the shipping and tax. Never got a response.
These people know it's Star Wars and they can do whatever they want, charge whatever they want and it would sell. These D-Bags can't be bothered answering petty questions like shipping & tax. They probably just think if you need to ask about shipping fees & taxes you probably can't afford these anyway.

Re: Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition Prop Replicas

I made my order Melted Vader on 7/20/16, 8 weeks now and not a word from prop shop! Kinda concerning when you drop that much money on an item and get no updates! Anyways halfway there. I'll post back if and when I hear something.

I don't mean to sound like a prick, but being in Australia, I have no sympathy for you. My shipping and customs fees over the years have easily run into the tens of thousands. You've had a pretty good run over the years I am sure. It's one item. Deal with it.

LOL. Kinda tending to agree. And I'm sure most international customers would too.
