I'm just starting to watch this - liking it so far. Only watched 2 episodes but I have the whole season in my queue and will maybe be all caught up by next weekend. :)

I found this show to be anything but slow. Practically every episode had me on the edge of my seat. And I thought episode "33" on BSG was impressive - this is just one thing after another.
Watching the finale right now - needless to say, I'm hooked. :)

I read online it's supposed to start airing season 2 Sept. 28th. It's almost here. :)

I watched the movie and liked it - and caught a few episodes of the other Stargate series - but they never did much for me. I love the suspense and drama of this one. I prefer dark and gritty. :)

Well I watched a few episodes of season one of SG-1 and it still didn't do anything for me. I've now seen a few of SG-Atlantis and I have to say I'm liking that one much more - not as much as SG Universe though.

Universe seemed to try and copy Battlestar with the way it was going. IMO it just didn't have anything that SG1 or even Atlantis had going for it.....interesting characters.

Now that I've finally watched all of BSG, I agree that SGU is definitely heavily influenced by it.

It's nota bad thing as long as you can compliment the formula and work it into your own stuff. I just don't predict Universe getting interesting based off of the formula they're using. Seemed each week was another "We stopped by this planet and need to excavate for x (insert important fuel, power source, or food source here), and we only have x amount of time."

Yeah, but the last few episodes broke that formula and seemed more exciting so hopefully they'll continue down that path.

The first season of SG-1 is very cheesy and boring, I'd skip it altogether, maybe go to season 2 or 3.

SG-1 definitely hit its stride in the second or third season, then started to lose it around 7 or 8.

I couldn't get through SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis, in which I bought the complete series. I hate the cheesy humor, just felt it was made for 5 yr olds. But I love the original movie, wish I could get into these series.
