I know they are stills, but I don't like either one of those looks. He's got a little elephant man in the first and an angry gopher in the second.

I learned my lesson from critiquing Heath Ledger when he was cast as the Joker. I will reserve my overall judgment until I see this. But for now, I like the look of the trailer and am willing to give the new PW a chance.

Reading the wiki on pennywise, they say it can become werewolves, bats, leeches, and sharks, gill-man etc.

It would be truly amazing if this movie did that. I would buy it if they bring up some kind of scary practical effect werwolf into the mix.

IT has been in the area that is now Derry since the age of the Dinosaurs, when it literally fell from the sky.
IT taps into your fears and presents itself as that which scares you the most. In the case of the kids, many monsters they saw in the movies. Hopefully they stay faithful to that in the movie and show us twisted versions of those 30's and 50's monsters that scared the kids.
Which makes me wonder... when is this set?

The 80's, I believe.

That way the second part can be set in the present day (provided the first one is well received).

Well said . :clap that's exactly how I feel.
when they said Heath Ledger was going to be the Joker, I was like what the **** !!! and then until I seen his portrayal of him....

never judge a book by its cover

Hmmm I don't think kids today even like clowns. Clowns are more feared then they are loved. So seeing this clown try and be friendly would still rub me the wrong way

Which would work better

The creature is known.....in many other Stephen King works. Kings masterful writing these days incorporates many of his characters into newer stories as he is working on making all of them part of the Dark Tower multiverse. A similar creature named Dandelo is peculated to be the offspring of IT in DT

IT picked up the clown mask when a carnival in town had a tragic fire (if I am remembering it right) Pennywise was one of the main attractions in the Carnival.....but it is never revealed if the clown in that show was already IT?
There is a brief scene showing burned hand coming through a door....which is a call back to IT's previous visit.

Which would work better because it wouldnt be the obvious creepy clown but a friendly clown that makes you feel weird. The contrast would be better

I liked in the miniseries when the dude accidentally made out with Pennywise. :lol

I read an interview, can't find the link now - IIRC it's late 80s and the director stated that he changed some of the forms IT takes. Which makes sense, I guess. Although a few of them are Derry-centric and not related to then-current movies.

You know what I just noticed......it's only the kids....Where are the adult parts 27 years later?

IT part 2?

I know I'm quoting an older post, but the same thing happened with 1989 Batman. I remember everyone freaking out when they cast "Mr. Mom" as Batman. Look at how awesome that turned out to be.
