I don't think it's a slip. Tom has openly expressed that he likes the dot (for its "tradition") and even their PFs still use it!

No way. That has to be one of the last things done in production. This was a Creative call.

Doesn't mean those heads haven't been sitting around completely painted for the last 6 months.

Just saying its possible; not likely, but maybe possible.

I can't see why they'd go backwards, especially where the removal of it has been so well received. It just kills the ability of a piece to look realistic having that,

How long ago was it that we first started receiving figures that didn't have the dreaded doll dot?

I believe Piett was the first to ship without it, that'd about a year ago. I know KOTCS Indy at SDCC was one of the first I saw without it.

Well, I'd say it's intent, the proto has it, maybe the proto was painted before they stopped it, even if the figure came later.

I'm not worried, we've had figures since without it.

The Creative Director at Sideshow (Tom) has openly stated that he likes the doll dot (for its "tradition"). Until we routinely start seeing figures without it you should be worried of it rearing its ugly head (pun intended).

I suppose, I don't see it stopping sales but it'd be a shame, these pieces can look pretty lifelike but false catch lights throw that off.

I'm collecting all their 1:6 lines (all 2 now :p). What figure shipped since Duke?!

Well, I was thinking in terms of prototypes even that don't have the dot. Duke prototype had it so it makes sense for him to ship with it, but Palpatine doesn't have one.

Neither does Beachhead.

If proto Duke didn't have it and he shipped with it, I might be worried, but where it did, and figures without it as prototypes have shipped that way, I'm not too worried yet. One figure has shipped since they stopped without it, I just don't think it's time to worry that it's permanently back.

Well, don't they also reshoot the item gallery for production pieces? If so, while a prototype might not have it, one might find it on a production piece.

We could, but since Duke's had it since the proto, I'm not worrying until more production pieces show up, especially ones where the proto had no dot.

Correct. I don't collect the Joe line so I never noticed Duke having the dot in his prototype, but I haven't seen a Star Wars proto in the past year that's had it. Palpatine has no do, Rex has no dot, Clone Wars Anakin shipped with no dot, Lando shipped with no dot, and I believe Henry Sr. and KOTCS Indy also shipped sans dot. I'm pretty sure that Duke is the only figure with it since it stopped, and he had it at prototype level so it's not too shocking for his production piece to have it, the factory guys probably mirror the proto paint as exactly as they can and it doesn't take skill to add the dot, and out of everything to worry about when approving production samples, I'm sure a doll dot wasn't a big concern.

yes. they should also leave the loose joints the way they are. it's more realistic. i real person can only hold their arms up for a little while anyway.

SO TRUE. I always pose my figures with their arms down and sitting because of that! Always annoys the crap out of me otherwise.:lecture

Sideshow... WTF?!?

I thought we were past this... :huh
