Is Capcom sponsoring this too? I'm not clear what's their viewpoint on it.

Joey Ansah and his crew were given the go ahead by Capcom, and there have been talks about making it the canon history for these characters if it does well.

Another screenshot from the clip. Just saw it, excellent! About two minutes long of Gouken telling Ryu and Ken his life history around a fire. Gouken's father was a Captain in the Japanese Imperial Army and killed in WWII, his mother killed during bombings in Yokohama. Showed Goutetsu returning from World War II and reclaiming his family dojo, taking in a young Gouken and Akuma as his only students before the clip ends.

Amazing. Ansah loooovves this film like it was his newborn. I'm pretty sure it'll show.

Can't wait to see what kind of choreography he has in store; he had a good Jason Bourne fight.

This keeps looking better!

I loved the Mortal Kombat series but I find myself enjoying this more. MK was kind of all over the place with all the different characters. Here you know who they're focusing on and the characters. Ken, Ryu, Gouken, Gouki/Akuma and Goutetsu...simple, forward and easy.

wut happen to Raiden in MK series? last episode Mr. Green seen is that Raiden got captured by Shao Kahn. he thought he was fighting in the mortal realm but he was tricked to enter Kahn realm and eventual lost his power and the fight.

Looks great, undoubtedly it might be the most faithful live action adaption of a video game ever. Nice to finally see Akuma.

I wonder what they plan to do once this is all finished, maybe the Street Fighter I or II era? I'd like to see Ryu give Sagat his scar.

I'm guessing the basic jist of the story is going to show the downfall between Gouki and Gouken and how Gouki "becomes" Akuma after being seduced by the Dark Hadou. He kills Goutetsu and later disappears...only to likely reappear when Ken and Ryu start tapping into the Dark Hadou.

It looks like at one point, Ryu is taken in by the Dark Hadou (when we see him getting ready to fire a purple hadouken) and Ken is forced to "take him down". Likely that scene where we see Ken punching Ryu and the purple hadou energy dissipating.
