I totally agree, Scarlet. I don't mind occasional throws because I incorporate them into my game as well (e.g., after a missed dragon punch; after chun's jumping double hp, crouch hp, cancel into medium spinning bird kick), but if the majority of damage you inflict is caused by throws, there's something seriously wrong with your play technique.

Had a game against a Cammy player, and all he did were the three combos you listed, as well as just walking up and throwing (in fact, he did a walk up throw three times in a row). I was RAGING. I did manage to beat him, but of course he DCed on me, which made me rage even more. :banghead:banghead:banghead

You should play championship instead of ranked. The earning of CP/GP is more rewarding IMO, especially since you dont lose a ridiculous amount of points for losing to a player with low GP.

QFT!

I should go for it but i fear of getting thrashed using Dan. As good as i am with Dan, he is ill equipped agints the top ryus, Sgats etc.

Will try one day for sure

Moomooegg, what's ur strategy againts a good dan? I know he's a shoto but of course he cant really zone ya.

(with Chun) I usually tend to try and bait Dan's to try and get the players to miss their attacks to counter them. I stay about mid screen away and attempt avoid his ex dragon punch or dankukyaku (the air one is pretty annoying too).

But I really dont play against too many Dan's, unfortunately. But it seems like the way I play against him is the same way I play against Sakura's or Ken's who arent fireball happy: bait and counter while anticipating a dragon punch.

His Dan Ku kicks are pretty much safe and he can try and lock you down with lk. Since you're Chun-Li you really should put him in the corner and not let him out. Thats where she shines.

Actually, he can zone you. How are you losing? Throw antics?

Hehe, I'm not really losing actually. I have a 90% plus win rate againts Dan and since I use Dan 90% of the time, I know most of his tricks.
So far only 4 dans(about 100 vs dan matches) have beaten me since I started playing. The first was againts an average Dan but I just got the game and just started to learn how to use him. The second was againts a really good Dan. That was 2 months ago tho.

The 3rd and fourth was weird. I played this guy a few times(bout 5-2 matches in my favour) and he was constantly throwing me. He averages about 6 throws per round and I just could not get into my groove. I'm a rush down Dan in general(except in a few situations and vs certain characters) and I just cant go all out on him. I was keeping myself occupied with teching his throw rather than my all out style. And whats funny is that he has a BP of 600 plus againts mine of 2800bp. The 2 matches he won he took 120 points each and they were very close matches. Needless to say I was pretty pissed.

Anyways, the reason why I asked Moomooegg how his Chun li would deal againts a good Dan is that I can understand more on how to read a Chun Li's game. I have a 65% win rate againts ChunLi so I'm trying to improve on that.

My strategy againts a chun li is to go all out in the first round until she gets about 2 EX bars. By then, I would have inflict more damage on her and I'll just back off to prevent eating EX SBK. Then on I'll just egg Chun Li by taunting and avoiding her fire balls. Once in a while I'll surprise her with a jump in HK or a Dan kick. Round 2 is pretty much the same but basically I keep an eye on her EX bars. This startegy works pretty much for me as I've learnt that Chun users prefer to wait for you and counter with her EX SBK or jump HK split. So basically, I make chun li come after me instead of the other way round. Before this strategy, my vs Chun win rate was only at 40%.

Yeah Danpukyaku is safe esp the LP version. His LKs and LKs is my best friend. His jump in and cross up is great. Because his jump is heavy and low, it is very difficult to read and time blocks. But I cannot stop stressing on how slow his normal attacks are. cHK and cHP is ridiculously slow and he cant chain most of his attacks unlike the other shotos.

If he had his Shin gadouken it would be insane:lol He'd be up there with Ryu surely. Chaining an uppercut to a Shin Gadouken will cause high rate of DCs.:lol

Hehe, just as I've mentioned in my previous post:eek:

So basically, I'll try to get a good damage on Chun early(but look out for her EX bar) then just wait out for her to come. If a Chun somehow manage to damage me much more and make me chase the game, it will be a tough match as Dan's fireball sucks and have to be cautious of her EX SBK.

How's the character variation in G1? Is it mainly top-teir characters or do you see some lower tier guys thrown in? I'm really getting tired of going against shotokans, blankas and balrogs in G2, and I really enjoy getting beat by a skilled lower tier character. I just went against a Fei-Long player who had such good timing for his combos and counters. I could barely get a hit in, but in no way was he cheap. It was pretty refreshing, especially since most of my games today were filled with constant throwers.

Character variation is spread across the board with a good mix of Boxer, Guile, Chunners, Blanka, 'Gief and Ryu; C Viper also seems a lot more common, Ken seems a lot less common.

You'll love G1 as so far the players I've dueled with are tournament-style players and games are fluid. You won't need to constantly worry about teching throws -- I can almost guarantee you that -- instead you can focus on your game and try to adapt to your opponent's style, which is what SFIV is all about.

The Ryu players play a good mix-up game, ditto everyone else. I can't say how much I love G1... but the thing is you lose 5 points for losing the first game, but on the plus side you get 10 for winning the first, even if you lose the second so unless you are a pretty shabby player, and you consistently lose your first game, it's almost impossible to go below the 15,000 mark.

That said, I have played the one guy that was below 15,000 in G1. His name was poopdoctor and after my game with him, he was not pleased

Needless to say he sent me a message to show his displeasure :lol:lol

When you go to G1, prepare to use every single trick you have up your sleeve, and try not to whiff, ever... because it'll usually come down to a punished mistake to settle a game.

Finally everyone seems to still be on G1-E; I fought a guy with 36,000 points and unless I'm mistaken he was still on G1-E, so considering when Championship mode was released, I doubt any SFIV player in the world has reached G1-A

I may be wrong.

heh. good to hear that people play tough but fair in G1. I probably won't get there for a while, since I only play long enough to get around 200-250 GP a day.

I am not at G1 either, then again, I am not really trying either.

Yup, All his moves are safe aside fom the Dps. He just needs better links and juggles/combos. It's what makes Ryu so strong...

Chun-Li too... Her EX kicks are her saving grace.

Dragon punch juggled into super... I HATE IT :banghead:lol

and his poke combos into a dragon punch, ex cancel into a super/ultra. I hate it even more. :banghead:banghead

Ive pulled off so many 3rd round victories with that combo with just a sliver of life left. :lol

Hehe, but Ken could do the pokes, dragon punch FADC to ultra too but I've checked that his damage is pretty weak if he does not connect the initial kicks.

Sagat does the worst.

I've been practicing using Ryu and Sagat and they are easy to use and do. Like I said if only Dan had a Shin Gadouken Ultra. He'll be a top tier no problem. Anyways, this is not a hate Ryu discussion:eek: Just hate his ridiculous ability to chain into his ultra. Same goes for Sagat.

I am a rush down player and I feel totally wierd when I have to hold back againts a Ryu/Sagat when they are almost dead but have ultra in stock. I dont even jump in when they have their ultra.

Also I wish they remove the damn DP short cut. I cant believe in the middle of my combos, a dragon punch can emerge from nowhere. If they are done by experts fine, the noobs are executing them FFS. I lost to a scrub Ken
( 0 bp FFS!!) who keep mashing the EX DP shortcut when I'm in the middle of my combos.
Lag + shortcut = noobs dream.

Also tried Champ mode yesterday. took me 1 hr to play 3 matches cos no one seem to have 2 bars or more for their connection. After getting promoted to G3-C after the 3 matches, I just gave up.

Damn bro!!!
That's always the case. When you think you have Ryu by the balls and go for the kill, he pulls out the DP to Ultra. I cant believe how many times that has happened.:lol

grrrr, i HATE HATE HATE how they dumbed down the gameplay with those stupid shortcuts, negative edge, or even the buffer memory. If a player can't get the correct stick input down for a move, they should be penalized for it, instead of making kiddie shortcuts and memory buffer and negative edge on the button inputs. argh all of them suck! :banghead

Yeah bro. Damn shortcuts!!! They wanted to make the game easier for beginners but those shortcuts are ridiculous. Mash mash mash ""Wow I did a dragonpunch. Wow I won!
Damn noobs and their shortcut mashing:lol

im sick of championship mode. people are lame, way too intent on winning, i know thats the point but im sick of turtlers and spammers.

if anyone wants to spar with a decent bison, hit me up on xbl: sinthome

i could use some work on my cammy, chun, and shoto matches in general.

edit: good god, a ten year old could do those ryu links. im sick of it, bison is a bit tougher because of the charge and im sick of dp and shor mashers whenever i get close, and zone like mad from the get go with fireballs. annoying as hell.

you play bison? That's bison's main game, is turtling and spamming those high jump stomps :lol.

i always saw bison as a rush character. i barely turtle headstomps unless the other player is across the screen throwing fireballs at me. for every fireball i get at least one headstomp. on a regular basis that means i get to spam my headstomps about 10x times to be fair.

also, check out some tournament vids of bison, never turtles, but its not a bad tactic, its just a bad playing technique.
