I read that. I guess they think it's in bad taste to post them. I don't see why honestly.

I think its like when something bad happens and you're not sure what to say. Them waiting a couple days is probably just an attempt at a good gesture. I agree with Ween, I doubt the families care, but its a nice effort.

Well outta respect for the Massacre in Colorado , its a good choice .

Hey we know that 14 people died and 50 others got shot :monkey2 , but heres how much money we made from all the other theaters :slap

I would say if they lacked at the box office this weekend, the incident in Colorado played a HUGE part.

I don't see how it could. It was an isolated incident and considering online purchases aren't refundable, the ticket purchases count. Even before the incident, sales were already lower than expected. :huh

It's also considered the biggest mass shooting in American history.

It's going to affect the Box Office. But not in the way people think. MORE people will go now. Because we can't let him win.

that's pretty tasteless bud, "let him wim?" he killed 12 people and injured 40, im pretty sure he is pretty happy with the outcome, he is famous now too, his face is all over the country,

how exactly are we "Winning" by watching a movie?

Didn't it have the second best mid showing ever, though? Sounds like it got off to a (saleswise) good start.

I live 10 minutes away from that theater. Drove past it on my way to Target today. I don't go to that particular theater as I have another one close by using Christie projectors. I am absolutely going to see the movie tomorrow. There are a lot of people who aren't though. Not just to see TDKR, but to a theater at all. I really hope this doesn't affect the box office numbers but I have a feeling it will. Hopefully people that don't live here are not letting it bother them but sadly, I'm sure there are plenty that are.

Are people fearing a copy-cat to wreak more havok?

IMO, even with the sickening results of the massacre at the theatre, TDKR will surely break records for the 1st week's release $.

I think there is always that fear after something like this happens. Anyone I know is not, but there are plenty who are. Things here have kinda gone crazy. People ranting about gun control, metal detectors in theaters, pulling TDKR from theaters altogether, parallels between this psycho and things that have happened in Batman movies and comics, the idea that his diabolical plot has only just began and getting arrested was only the next step, the list goes on and on and gets crazier as it does.

There are always those looking for a reason to stand up on their soapbox and rant about some idiot idea they have to take away more freedoms in the name of safety. Most of the time it falls on deaf ears. Unfortunately, in times like these, people are listening.

There are a few idiots doing just that in the thread about the incident. :lol

Yeah, there's a reason I have stayed out of that thread. :cuckoo:

(And for the record, I'm not trying to derail this one.)

It just really pisses me off that there is now a dark cloud surrounding what may be one of the greatest movies ever made in the genre.
