True. It's very safe. Very clean. Good schools. Ideal place for families... hence it's boringness. If it had a beach like almost everywhere else, all would be forgiven.

Australian cities have a few inner-city blocks where bars and sirens are the norm, especially Sydney and Melbourne, but I never lived there. Our cities are pretty much the same as in any other developed country - there are a lot of places you don't want to get caught after dark. But I did spend some time in Southern Africa and safety is a real concern there. I'd go back in a heartbeat if it weren't for the crime, it's a beautiful part of the world.

It's a violent place all round. White on black in the earlier apartheid days, now it's a free-for-all, black, white, yellow, doesn't matter so long as you've got something someone else wants.
