He had that ad for his dvd in PT not too long ago...and maybe he is working on that new, top secret dino film all the major paleo-artists are working on now.

You know, if you wanted a cheap bronze..all you would have to do is paint the kit version with bronze paint..heh heh

Whoa whoa, what film?

No specifics..it was just mentioned in a PT this year..maybe 2 issue back ? In an interview there is some new big dino film all the artists are working on and I think that includes Krentz.

I copied the whole bit about it and put on DTF..I think in the General section..but I'm having trouble finding it... basically it was said to be what all the guys working on Disney's Dinosaur had wanted but didn't get.

I just picked up the latest issue an hour ago. Which page was it? And I hope it has nothing to do with that silly hoax that someone posted on flicker or whatever.

It's in an older issue..I think from earlier this year.

No, it had nothing to do with that..I remember when I posted on DTF about it , one guy that I meant the Land of the Lost movie that was coming out..I assured him it was not...heh heh

I tried doing a quick scan through the past issues which turned up nothing..I'll have a seat later and actually go through them more thoughly. I tried finding the post I made about it on DTF but had no luck..the search feature there really sucks.

Found it.

Issue # 86 Summer 2008

Catching up with David Krentz ( interview title )
by Paul Etheredge

PE : Your working on a new dinosaur feature film. How will it difer from DINOSAUR. ?

DK : Very Exciting Project ! I've workwed as the production designer o nthis for about 10 months, and I count my blessings that I have the oppertunity to work on anotherstudio dinosaur movie in my lifetime.

I can't comment too much about this movie, as it's still in development. BUT, I'm allowed to tease you with this: Imagine the first 10 minutes of DINOSAUR as a feature film. No talking or singing dinosaurs; realistic behaviors, vivid colors- and a good story. Now imagine all of this in 3D! Some really heavy hitters are working to get this movie made- I trust the filmmaking abilities of this team 100%.

So that prob expalins where David Krentz has been all this time...heh heh maybe his Dinosauria pieces reflect ideas for the new movie ?

Holy cow, that sounds... well, even if it turns out half as good as he makes it sound, it would be great. I'm guessing it's largely CG. That would account for the long production period, and why we haven't heard anything since then.

More than likely...I mean he says it's in 3D so that prob is a hassle in and of itself. I wouldn't know what studio though...among other things...heh

Maybe he'll mention it again in the upcoming Dinosauria artists interview in PT.

I wonder if IMAX movies are considered "feature films". Either way, it sounds absolutely killer.

I haven't seen an IMAX film in ages, at least none of the academic sort. The Dark Knight doesn't count, right?

Prob not..lol

I've seen 3 actually at the IMAX theaters...Into the Reef, a space one and Sea Monsters. Guess which was better.. :D

Two were on field trips, Sea Monsters was showing at the IMAX in Myrtle Beach last year when I went. The closest theater to me though is at the Chattanooga Aquarium...a couple hours drive.

Thought I heard that project fell through. Would be nice if it did come to fruition, but I haven't heard anything positive about that project for nearly 2 years.

The extent of the details I heard was a glut of paleoartists collaborating upon a dino-related film. A lot of fans of paleoart with whom I spoke or heard from were anticipating difficulties due to competing creative styles and a desire to collaborate rather than have any one style overwhelm the others in expression. That fear is my assumption why we haven't heard anything about the project in some time. It's easy to imagine several comic book artists collaborating on each issue, but impossible to conceive of a book where the artists all contribute to each singular frame. I find it hard to mentally wrap my mind around a dino film grounded in the collaborative creativity of numerous artists. If executed well, though, it sounds like a dream come true. :drool

so, has anyone else already received their styrac maquette! i'd love to see more pics! thanks for the images dan, now i'm excited to receive mine as well, looks really big! :)

I had to cancel mine last night unfortunately....I just have to much stuff coming with no deadicated area for all the Dino pieces. 1 had to go...so I chose this one :(
