I think I'm going to try my luck with a $60 gamble on the guild membership, but are the odds just so off the charts that I basically have no chance?

IMO, the $60 for the PGM is a waste of time. I wouldn't pay $60 for just a chance but if you, and others who are thinking about it, do I wish you the best of luck.

I saw this post at SF by Rogue01, a Gentle Giant rep apparently, explaining the reason Gentle Giant went with the lotto for the JV of Babydoll.

I'm glad you guys are talking about this. I know this isn't exactly a popular move, but here's a little insight as to why we're doing this lottery-style. The main reasoning is that:

a) we have collectors around the world that want this piece, and just saying "all 100 will go up for sale at 1pm PST" isn't fair to our collectors that will be asleep or stuck at work without access to the 'net when it happens.

b) there are only 100 available and the demand is significantly higher than the supply

c) this prevents less scrupulous collectors with multiple accounts on our site and a fast connection from buying multiples when they go up and sticking it to the rest of the community by trying to flip them for significantly more money on auction sites

It *will* be done completely randomly (with the results being checked to ensure no one gets a duplicate order in there before cards are processed). No favorites will be played.

We're not just doing this lightly; we talked about this decision extensively internally, going over a couple of different options for distribution before deciding that lottery was the best way to go, considering the circumstances.

If you've got questions, please feel free to ask me.

Thanks!

Well the $60 to me is no huge deal, I guess its worth a gamble considering no companies, or SSF members have stepped up to offer help. The cold reality is:
a) I buy a $60 lotto ticket
b) Pay $800+
c) Forget about the whole thing.

a) seems like the only sane option.

I wish you the Bsst of Luck, Corrose, and I really hope the Statue Gods smile upon you! :rock

d) buy HT baby doll

I am for sure :wink1: , but then again...it's not a statue. :lecture

Oh Im getting the Hot Toys line for sure, but I still want the 1/4 Scale line so much more than the Hot Toys line.

Also worried that by the time if/when I get a BD the others will be extinct also. HA.

Thanks for the support Snoopy!

You are definitely not the only one Corrose...I am also one of the ones denied via allocation.

I'm going to take the weekend to think about it. It really chaps me to pay $60 for the chance to get one, but (like you) I also can't afford flipper prices. I'm trying to think all logical like about it...is the fact that I can't get one making me rabid for one, or do I really want it that bad to go through the stress? It's like the Cartmanland episode of South Park lol.

I also wonder if I might be able to find one on yahoo japan once it releases over there. One of the perks of cel collecting...good relations with deputies :)

Good luck to everyone looking no matter what they choose...the kind thoughts from everyone help!

I'm getting the Hot Toys' Babydoll regardless. :yess:

You're welcome, bro! :duff

That may be a good way of picking up a JV BD, Tabby! Good Luck if you go that route! :rock

I just have no idea what the edition size is they are offering vs the number of guild members that may be trying for it. Any guesses?

An even crazier question, any of you that already have your BD that also are guild members, would anyone be willing to go for it to help me increase my chances of getting one? I could obviously pay right away if someone got lucky and could help me.

I swear it's like me and 2 others who didnt get one, everyone else right and left are getting processed, it's incredibly depressing. :(

dude, i'm right there with ya. this statue was a MAJOR reason i started collecting after comicon 2010. i knew i HAD to have it. so i order in sept and this is the thanks i get. oh well...im def considering the guild membership as well since I can handle the $60.

I'm going to be doing the same thing. I still have all the other girls on order so I'm really pushing for this piece. But not for $800 :cuckoo:

I know alot of you have been talking about the Baby Doll figure and the lack of availablity. I only pre-ordered Amber from BBTS. Is there I chance I won't get her? I thought I still might be able to get it, seeing that she seems to be one least popular characters in the film.

So i signed up for the PGM...what sux is you pay $60 and then you have to pay $10 shipping on the stupid little bust they send u...what bs! honestly, i dont want any of those lame little busts. oh well, so when does this lottery thing happen?

I have a pre-order through BBTS too, and according to a customer service rep there, she guaranteed they are getting their Ambers in.

:slap just call them, you pay $60.00 PGM good for this year only :cuckoo: i Used to be member two years ago. since then did not renew my membership coz their suck on their realist date.

Oh FFS! Can I tell them to just to keep the minibust and let me keep my 10 spot? This is already more of a hassle than it needs to be for a piece I ALREADY HAD ORDERED.
