Watched the first two episodes tonight.

It's not awful but it's far to familiar and kinda cheesy. It feels like a Flash clone which was basically a Smallville clone.

It's got the same character types as Flash; supportive black guy (James/Joe) man-child friend (Winn/Sisco) convenient Villains-of-the-week (Meteror Freaks, Metahumans, now Phantom Zone Convicts), official support team (D.O.E). Arrow probably has this same formula but I havent seen it

Things I don't like:

Hate that the doormat beta best friend who plainly loves her but is friend-zoned unlike the hunky new guy in her life. He's basically a male Chloe Sullivan

Not a fan of the constant superman comparisons and references as it makes her intentionally second-rate

With the villains I find them to be too overpowered. She never has to pull her punches for risk of killing them like Clark did in Smallville. Further to that they just seem to get in the way of the story and flow of the characters that I just space out until the fights are over and we can get back to the moving things along.

Her Sister is too badass for my taste. Having a relative outside of her superife who worries for her would be better than a secret agent badass who trains a god-like being

Things I do like:

Costume is great and Kara is a cool character. I like who she volunteers to be a hero rather than some tragic past pushing her into it. I like that she wants to be better and not cause collateral damage. The actress does a good job in the role.

James is very likeable and the actor does a good job.

I'm gonna watch a few more and see if I warm up to it but for now feel no attachment to the characters outside of Kara herself especially the Alien task force people, ugh

:goodpost:

This show reminds me of Arrow in the sense that everything she is going through seems like a Superman story. In Arrow, many of the villains and situations seem like something better suited for Batman. In the last episode I saw of Supergirl she almost went up against a bunch of kryptonians by herself. I don't think that is a situation he would let his still wet behind the ears cousin face by herself. Many of his enemies are being used as well. If all of this is going on in her city, it must be pretty quiet in Metropolis.

The Flash & Supergirl Crossover Officially Confirmed | Comicbook.com

"We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl – The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!,” said The Flash and Supergirl Executive Producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. “We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone's enthusiasm and support.”

I have the season so far on my DVR but have only watched the first episode. Glad to hear people think it's getting better. I wasn't impressed with the first episode.

Yea I've watched the first 5 or so here and there. Show is extremely girly. And Olsen is way to alpha. Glad it picks up.

I watched ep4 tonight.

Wasn't too bad in comparison. The inclusion of Luthor wannabe Lord, though not very original, brought what was missing to the show. That little something Arrow or Flash have that make them stand out. There's still way to go, but it's a start.

On the plus side, I really disliked Benoist when I heard she was cast as Supergirl, but I must admit she's actually the best part of the show. She acts really well and I love her more as Kara than as Supergirl.

Dc tv is miles ahead of Marvel tv- I can't get through Shield and Carter to me is just average

I'm watching and enjoying Shield, I suppose if I tried I could watch and enjoy the DC shows just the same....because, they pretty much are the same. Ultimately none of them are going to make a longstanding mark on Television just like none of the films will make a mark in the film world anymore due to oversaturation.
