He looks like someone who is learning/struggling to fly but having fun with it.
That's how I interpreted it as well but that doesn't change the fact that he looked goofy, plus with Superman his struggling doesn't really make much sense as there's no rhyme or reason behind his ability to fly nor how he can maneuver, stop, start, hover - we just have to accept that he can. It was much more believable, for example, watching Tony Stark struggling to do so in a suit of armor with an on-board adaptive AI and built-in thrusters, repulsors, flaps, etc..

I don't see how he looks goofy there at all.
I could understand you saying it doesn't make sense if there were evidence to the contrary on how easy it should be, but there isn't. He's never done it before and we've no idea what is involved. It's like Luke learning the force.

Sure, Tony's is much more relatable to us as he's human and using machinery, something we all have done in some capacity or another. It's more believable because it's possible too.

To be clear, I think Cavill and his suit in MoS are top-notch - it's his expression in that scene that IMO looks goofy. And unlike the Force, Superman's ability to fly has never been explained in any detail. His ability to use his strength to defy gravity during take-off sure, but beyond that? No, which makes his struggling to control it silly to some of us because there's nothing to control. Someone like Captain Marvel is infused with cosmic energy and she can direct/control it during flight, so at least there's a tiny morsel of thought behind how she does that. Other flight capable heroes (Green Lantern, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Silver Surfer) have similar mystical energy sources that "explain" how they do it. Superman? Not so much. There are probably others like him but they're not coming to mind. Black Adam maybe?

At the end of the day it's a very minor nit in a genre that's chock full of the unbelievable. I just think showing him struggling to fly wasn't the best decision made while making MoS. Heck later on in the same movie Zod mastered flight without any practice at all.

You are just presuming there is nothing to control though. Granted, you can make up what it takes, but that doesn't necessarily make it so. Doesn't the fact that it shows him struggling with it mean there is something to struggle with? It might not even be a physical challenge. It could easily be a mental challenge.

Zod and Superman are very different. Superman has spent most of his life dialling his powers back, whilst Zod has been pushing his body and mind as a warrior for 30-40 years and is in a fit of rage when he takes off. It also makes a difference when you've seen someone else do it, too. Just look at the 4 minute mile. It only took Superman another 30 seconds than it took Zod.

Yes blah blah blah. Face still looks like he’s holding in a gigantic fart . Looks hilarious actually. Learn to chill my guy. Snyders a big boy he doesn’t need you defending his bad movies Everytime someone nitpicks one of them.

I’m guilty of doing the same though. I went off on those Disney adults when mufasa made more then sonic 3 😂

He's only struggling because the script says so. It's the same with Zod - the script tells you his body and mind have been honed to be a warrior and that gives him an edge over Clark, But Zod didn't spend any of that time on Earth testing what he could do under those conditions. Clark grew up on Earth and while he did "dial his powers back" much of the time, I think it's safe to assume he spent plenty of alone time testing his limits. So by the time he took that first flight in his shiny blue suit he should have been just as capable as Zod.

Again, a MINOR nit - let's just accept each other's opinions and move along.

That is the case with everything in every movie ever made regarding the script.
A 30-second difference between someone who pushes themselves all the time and someone who holds themselves back who have had a completely different upbringing, background and experience is very reasonable.

Yes, but I also thinks it’s reasonable that having a lifetime advantage in living under those conditions would have given Clark the edge - or at least put him on par with Zod.
I will say this…T800 is always polite and respectful with his defense of Snyder and view on Gunn.
Yes, it is nice to be able to engage someone with a different perspective on things in a civilized manner.

That's why I think it being a mental challenge over a physical one would fit better.

I never thought he wasn’t . I think he’s just very biased though and won’t tolerate Snyder slander. I mean it’s fine and all but damn 😂.

But I have nothing against him. We argue but I don’t think he’s a bad person in the slightest. I think it’s friendly arguments tbh. We just get heated but I’m sure he’s a good guy lol

I appreciate you saying that. We can have differences of opinion we don't have to be horrible to each other because of it.
Has anybody been horrible to anyone in this thread 🤔. Or are you speaking just in general?

I’ve always loved Superman, and I think that quick 2 second shot wasn’t terrible, but his face did look “off.” They can claim lens distortion or whatever, but people know what they see. And it needs tweaking.

On the other hand, these face edits are freakin’ hilarious! 😂
