Re: Superman

Are you pro or anti-cloth? I personally like it, but some people don't like that it dulls the muscle definition.

I'm definitely pro-cloth.

It's the reason I didn't buy the Cyclops PF. He's my favorite marvel character, but a "leather" jacket isn't enough for me. The blue should've been cloth and straps either polystone or "leather" IMO. They did cloth with the Wolverine and Sabertooth PF so i don't see why they couldn't on the Cyclops one

Jim Lee = overrated. :exactly:

Too true.

Re: Superman

I can only hope the pose is great. But Superman is a must! And of course Supergirl. He should be standing on the globe of The Daily Planet and it should rotate round and round. Haha..Of course I'm kidding. I'd get a headache just looking at it.

Re: Superman

at least post Superman Jim Lee pics since this is a Superman thread... Batman somehow always has to be in EVERY thread in the DC Section

Re: Superman

I like Lee's work that he did on Hush and Superman, but I have no idea what he's done in the past five years.

Sideshow might take elements of his work and combine it with their own style to make Superman... like they did with Bolland's work from "The Killing Joke" for Joker.

As long as he looks good. I don't see a problem with that. I was praying that the pf wouldn't look like any of the tv/movie actors. So comic PF makes me a happy woman.

I'm prety sure it won't. The 1:1 looks very much like a mixture of Sideshow style with Alex Ross as the main reference so I'm confident the PF will will have more reference to the comics than an actor (hopefully at least )

Definitely. I pray!

Now, would anyone ever want to see a sideshow version of Supe opening his dress shirt to reveal his logo shirt? Or just straight up cape and tights? I realize the open shirt idea has been done many MANY times. But wanted to ask. I want straight up cape and tights.

Nice, I would probably get both versions.

Jim Lee hasn't really done much after "For Tomorrow" with just doing mostly covers as he is handling other business. They won't start at Jim Lee with a base, they'll keep his look and examples strictly for the New 52 since it has his stamp all over it.

They won't. Alex Ross like Frank Miller is very specific in terms of look and if you look at the work in progress that isn't Alex Ross. Bolland's look is often considered the "definitive" Joker, even Jim Lee based his look on that one so I would say they'll start with what is considered "definitive" and for Superman it's Curt Swan. If you look at the shape of the face that is more Frank Quietly than anything else. So Supes will definitely be idealized.

Re: Superman

I haveto disagree with you Mike. I don't see any Quitely in there at all. The chin and eyes look more Ross to me and, now that you mention it, a Curt Swan vibe to it as well. But I definitely don't see Quitely there.

Re: Superman

Quitely Superman:

The initial rough sketch:

I see it in the shape of the head especially as a base. Like I said it'll be idealized so that is probably why the Swan reference is there.

Either way it ain't this

Re: Superman

i think you misread what I said. I said that the 1:1 looks like they went with Alex Ross as a start point not the PF

For the PF, I agree that it does have the Quitely look to it

Re: Superman

Do we have confirmation of that artwork in the first post is in fact for the PF? The video also showed blue prints for a 1/6th classic, golden age, first appearance and modern Supes as well...

I still say no, if we are in agreement that the one shown in the video, the bald one with highbrows is Superman then it still doesn't look like Ross'. Ross' look has more wrinkles to it, a definite headshape and neck, very stylized

Looking it, it looks more Dan Jurgens as a starting point:

but then again idealized like their Joker.

I don't collect 1:1 busts, but I'd buy a bust of that. Hell, even a PF made like their Crete Nazi would be nice. :lecture:lecture:lecture
