There was an obvious overreaction looking towards the side of caution more than anything else. Schools went from being closed one week, to two weeks, to three days to having just the infected stay home. The flurry of emails changing status over the past week has been interesting though reading the rationales.

I work for a um....company and lets just say that we have a different email or two every day on said topic.

This whole thing has been a media joke IMO.

I work in a Hospital, I was LMAO when I came back from my days off to find security guards posted on every door checking people as they left the Hospital, apparantly visitors where walking out with handfulls of Masks and Latex Gloves...:lol:rotfl:lol

Yeah it really is a big misunderstanding. People who are very misinformed by the media. I would be as bold to say I would stand for any amount of time in a room full of the so called infected and not fear for my life. It just isn't a big deal.

Time for a new thread. How about "Guess the next worthless/slanted/dishonest/over-hyped story the media is going to feed us in order to get the biggest ratings?"

I seriously can't even watch network news anymore. And I filter what news I do get through other sources. The older and "wiser" :lol I get, the more cynical I am about what a line of BS we are fed from nearly all public media. The news of the latest supreme court ruling really has me wondering what the F is wrong with our country. Have we really become so fearful, politically correct, and over-sensitive of a nation to even come within 10 feet of a 50 foot perimeter of stepping on any kind of line or boundary that would be unpopular with even a single person?

This media craze on the swine flu is exactly what I'm talking about. Whatever is the most popular or will get the most ratings at the moment, Let's completely blow it out of proportion and scare everyone so that they have to tune into us to figure out what to think and do next.

You have clearly become delusional from your obvious swine flu infection. The media would never do what you are saying.:lol:lol:lol

Listening to the radio yesterday, right after the federal response/acknowledgement of the issue, the guy on the radio said this is the sort of stuff the media loves and will probably start putting out horror story after horror story, so filter what you hear through the TV. It will take probably a good month before we know how serious this outbreak will be.

Too late for any sort of containment now.

Update and looks like the end of the world is going to have to wait a few more years
Mexico City lowered its swine flu alert level from yellow to green, and the mayor said "we can relax" now that there have been no new infections for a week.
Mayor Marcelo Ebrard said the change means the risk of contagion is low and the situation is under control.
Images of countless people wearing blue surgical masks in cars, pavements, restaurants and theatres can now be consigned to history.
