Do you want the light up eye feature on PF T-800?

No. I don't like corroding batteries in my collectibles that I never turn on anyways.

I'd like to see the eye light-up but more importantly it needs a wall power outlet option which is the crucial part IMO. If the lights are battery operated then most people wont actually leave it on for more than a few seconds. I ended up skipping on the C3PO/R2D2 premium format for this reason alone; the lights are such a crucial part of the display but it couldn't be wall powered, kind of defeats the purpose IMO.. The recent Galactus Maquette is a good example of how it should be done, awesome light up feature with power outlet so you can actually leave the lights on, this should be the standard for SSC by now.

There are pros and cons to SSC statues vs HT/EB figures, one of the advantages of SSC statues tend to be that the lights can be powered by a wall outlet, HT/EB figures can't be plugged in so the lights are almost never switched on as a result. Then there are other advantages to HT/EB figures as well, but if you start taking away the pros of SSC now then you're left with just the cons, and the decision of what to buy will become more obvious.

Have you ever owned a light up PF? They break. Do you really think factory workers that are severely underpaid in China aren't going to cut corners on the light up feature? They will. Light up is a cheap gimmick and I strongly dislike them on statues. These aren't toys. I skipped Freddy PF, Green Lantern PF and will send Superman PF packing if Sideshow gives him a cheesy light up. Just IMO. BTW read some threads of all the people that have complained about their light up features breaking over time. And a plug in feature will NEVER happen from Sideshow. These things take up way too much space as is.:peace

The Darth Vader pf works pretty well with the AC adapter as does the Hansicle. Those are the only pf's I own that can use wall power but I definitely wish they all had the option because that's all I feel safe using. Not a big fan of batteries. These things are too expensive to risk corrosion in the electronics IMO. The Droids lights are brilliant and should have had an AC adapter included with them as well for that price. In the case of this Terminator SS probably just didn't think the effort was worth wiring up a system for the sake of one little red glowing dot.

WRONG on every level. If it does not work return it for one that does. Nothing lasts forever. Don't kid yourself, these are "toys" just as much as a collectible action figure. Light up features are not a gimmick if they are done right. If you are so afraid of a light up you will pass on a good statue just don't use it. And SS IS adding AC adapters to new ones, my new Shaak Ti has one and I believe some others as well.

Light up is just another part to the mix media format, same as using fabric. If the movie 1:1 terminator had a light up eye, then the scaled replica should as well, this is more about accuracy and staying true to the real source. Your examples are where they add light effects to characters that don't actually light up in the movies, that's a whole other thing and not really necessary. The actual movie props of T-800, R2D2, C3PO, Iron Man, etc.. they all light up in the movies so a good replica should include those features, and include a wall plug option if they are meant to be turned on for the display. Also only a toy collector would associate lights with a toy, for everyone else lights are more associated with a display. I think it's the battery operated part that bothers me, a high-end Ironman 1:1 bust for example should light up and be plugged into the wall outlet for power.

I've owned lots of statues and figures with leds in them, I've even sold boxes of HTs in the past and never had a customer with an led issue. The problems you read on forums are individuals bringing up their cases out of thousands and thousands of people who never had any issue like me, it's like that in all forums.

LEDs are such a basic electronic that you can't really cut corners and there's not much room for error. If Chinese factory excels at anything it's cheap LEDs. You can buy an LED keychain in Chinatown for 10cents and it'll last you a lifetime.

As for wall plug, most SSC light up statues used to have that as an option. The recent one missing a wall plug jack was the C3PO/R2D2 PF, which worries people if that's becoming a new trend. Stuff like prop replicas and 1:1s will especially need a wall power outlet option. If they want to save on cost, IMO they should skip the battery compartment and do wall power only. I think battery operated is a little silly IMO, either have it plugged into the wall outlet or not use the lights at all.

The reason C3PO/R2 didn't have a plug in feature was because of R2s movability and how he wasn't "attached" to the base at all. Otherwise I'm sure that PF would've if they went that route.

And this should come with a light up eye. I voted yes.

The droids PF is a prime example of how not to install lights to a high end piece.

Having a light up eye for any T-800 is a necessity in my book! The two go together hand in hand like Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers, like Miley Cyris and Chris Hemsworth, like Bill Clinton and Hilary Clinton! :lecture

I suppose if people weren't whining for a light up feature they would be whining about something else. Like being overly critical about his pores, pose, or how his gun wont shoot bb's. Will there ever come a day when a statue comes out and receives zero criticism?? I kind of feel sorry for the artists that do these awesome works of art just to have some dorks pick it apart just for the sake of picking it apart.

Seriously. :goodpost:

And because it's true :rotfl@ or how his gun wont shoot bb's.

Not sure if that is a good reason though. I thought some of the improvements SS is making was to not wire everything from the base up to the whole statue where there is more in there that could fail.

It is not the point though is it.
As this is supposed to be screen accurate and at this part of the film his eye is exposed meaning it needs to light up.
It is like saying I will buy the endo skull but don't add light up eyes.
Ok I have used them once or twice but that is not the point.
This statue needs a light up eye.
All they would need to do is make the head so it comes off and then hollow the head and make it so a watch battery goes index the neck.
Just like those small electric tee lights you buy .

A lot of work and expense when producing thousands.
