Look at the difference between the AvP predators and Predator 2. Unbelievable differences.

Actually, everything Hot Toys has been making on an ongoing basis has improved, their stallone heads today have evolved so much in a short time from their first Rambo figure, and human portraits in general have come a long way from their earlier figures.

Pr-Ordered mine from BBTS, can't wait to have this figure in hand. I just hope they improve the box and make the accessories easier to take out.

Yeah, you had to rip it out and destroy that nice box. I hope they fix it. Should be easy enough, and would distinguish the original from the re-issue.

Wow, that's surprising, sounds more like cheap toy maker style of packaging than high end, bizarre. I thought you just meant that the plastic tray they were in held on a bit too tight, because that happens, HT's ALIENS Warrior was in it's tray quite snug, at least the little pieces were. Is the box really that nice, the artwork I've seen looks a little on the simple side, nothing that specatcular, but I've only seen a picture of the front.

I liked the box artwork, but the accessories were under a separate plastic box, opposite the figure. So if you wanted them you had to rip the plastic box away from the inside flap of the box. I've dealt with tightness before though, Medi Luke didn't want to come out of his clam shell, and most recently I literally had to struggle to get my 13 inch Nightwing out of the plastic clamshell. Packages should be collector friendly IMO.

Takara has been using that style of tray for a while now, about 3 years or so, maybe longer. I doubt they'll change.

If you really want a more pristine package just use a box cutter, lay it flat on the cardboard flap, and go around the perimeter of the plastic tray. It should come off without damaging the box flap any.

Thanks, I'll definitely try that. :D

Oh man...That place is hot & cold...I got some stories about them.

What's the goss? I went to order through HLJ, but their pre-orders are full till they see if they will be allocated anymore. Couldn't take a chance with a place that's hot and cold, so went with BBTS. I should've ordered this yesterday and I couldn't wait till tomorrow.

takara's jin roh package is completely collector friendly. The best part is that you can assemble him with all his gears and armor then put him back into the box without taking them all off again. Also, the box comes with inserts that you can use for back drop.

I dont think takara changed any packaging for batman begin re-issue. Though I do expect them to use the new collector friendly package if they do a dark knight figure.

None of my dealings with them ended badly...I just did not like some of the way they handled their business.

For example, when they label their items "in-stock"...it's not actually "in stock at the shop"...they mean that their number has been allocated by the distributor and should be shipping to them soon. I actually had a problem in which they had labeled two orders of mine (ironically the 1st release Takara Batman and a separate order with some Microman Superman Returns figures) as "in stock" and I asked repeatedly why hadn't my order shipped though their store marked them as "in stock" and that's when I learned of their meaning behind "in stock".

My Batman figure took about a week or two after their "in stock" posting to ship but my Microman figures took about 1-2 months because they had problems with their distributor. They did give me a partial refund so I can't say it was a bad ending, but I wasn't happy that I was led to believe my product was there when it wasn't.

Greetings from Malaysia!

I came across this board and been reading some of the topics of interest for the past couple of days.

All I can say is "WOW!" - some of you have got awesome skills with sculpting, repaints etc. Looking forward to more!

I'm a collector myself, but nothing really specific - whatever catches my eye so I have have stuff from 1/6th figures, to Transformers movie toys etc.

Those who've missed out on getting the TAKARA, this is your chance. The moment I saw pics of it online, I knew this was the one! IMO, it just blew away the competition (HOT TOYS and MEDICOM). This was the "original"/first release that I have here. I'm thinking about getting a 2nd piece and keep it MIB but the price, giving me 2nd thoughts - can use that same amount of money for a different figure or two!

Now, back to the topic at hand, I noticed that some of you guys complained about having to destroy the tray for the TAKARA Batman accessories. Here's an alternative way, hopefully, preserving the box as much as possible.

I was stumped on the best way to open the tray to get my paws on the accessories, finally, I thought this was the best solution:

What I did was make 2 cuts along the top of the tray (as shown in the red circles). You have to be really careful, and get a sharp knife/blade and depending how neat you are - which I wasn't as I didn't get a straight cut.

Benefits?

You get a little flap/cover, and you can still slide the tray in and out. Since most boxes would probably be stored upright, no chance of the tray and gear slipping out (since its a pretty tight fit in there as well).

Sorry about the blur photos, its about 3am here right now and I just got back from work. My cameraphone doesn't work that well with nightshots.

Hope this "visual guide" helps!

That was a great first post. Thank you for the advice and welcome to the Sideshow board. :duff

Thanks mate, just hope that I'll be able to help some of our fellow collectors out.

I hope I'm not too late! :D At least those who'll be getting the re-release can/will benefit from this.

And thanks for welcoming me! Looks like fun place to "be".
